Well I was able to get the older version again by downloading it from this site http://www.messfreak.be/livemsnmessenger8.php after I noticed how ugly the new one was. And it works again like it did before...

I found aMSN to transfer better than Pidgin {:
Never actually opened a specific port for Pidgin so don't know if that'd speed things up though!
