friend needs help..

well, friend of mine had some problems with his pc. he has a new motherboard now and pc is workin fine again. except for et. before new mobo his fps was stable 125. since he has the new one, his fps are far away from beeing constant. its like 76 max but often even down to 25.

i tried to tweak his cfg a bit, even tried modus' cfg, nothing helped. i installed newest graphic drivers (7600 GT), but really nothing changes...

now i dunno, how to help him any further :<

would be nice if someone could help.

thx in advance

HansoO (and his friend :D)

try to run some anti virus/spyware/cookies progs like ad-adaware & ccleaner :D
wrong chipset drivers?

MB ofc!
there might still be old drivers installed which don't work fine with his new MB.

look at my reply to jnO, the guy who did the pc-repair is really into that stuff. i guess he has done everything correct, but cant be sure tho
thx anyway

Which O/s and drivers does he use?
hes using windows xp Sp2, nvidia drivers GeForce Release 181 (sounds like newest version) :<
Parent
Does he installed the latest drivers? Maybe reinstall it.. could help. If not install the normal drivers he got with the hardware...
Parent
i looked for the newest nvidia drivers and installed them few minutes ago, didnt help
Parent
other games work good?
Parent
seems like he didnt try yet xD
Parent
if yes, blame PB :D.. if not... try what jn0 said.. :)
Parent
we also tried to play on a non-PB server, no difference :<
Parent
Then blame ET! But i guess there is something wrong with the drivers.. reinstall it or install the drivers which you get with the hardware or download the latest (if you didnt)..

Has he updated the BIOS version and ensured there is no conflicts with his CPU requirements?
Wiped down and installed new MoBo drivers?

Personally I would:

1. Ensure BIOS is up to date.

2. Remove all graphics drivers, boot into Safe Mode and use a driver cleaner (Driver Cleaner Pro imo) to remove all residual nVidia driver files.

3. Boot normally and reinstall latest nVidia drivers.
thing is, the pc was repaired and set by his girlfirends brother. this guy is really into this stuff, he bought the moBo and i guess he installed everything correct
hes a guy who knows what to do... thats why i thought he must have setup everything ok
Parent
Well if there is a problem running an application then he obviously hasn't set the system up correctly has he ;)
Parent
well. ye xD
i'll have a look at what you said maybe now :)
thx
Parent
btw, how do i check if BIOS is "uptodate"?
Parent
Cross reference the BIOS version installed (you can see this on boot up or by booting into BIOS) against the updates on the MB manufacturers website.
It should split it down so you can reference by specific MoBo and CPU.
Parent
latest bios for asus M2N is 0808. bios on system = 0808 says EVERESt :<
Parent
Clean / Remove nVidia drivers (thoroughly, use a cleaner program and boot into Safe Mode to run it).

Reinstall latest Chipset drivers.

Reinstall nVidia drivers.

Cvar restart and exec cfg.

If its still fucked then try removing and reinstalling ET. (Save a copy of his ETPro and ETMain files to the desktop to save time and hassle. He can just copy these over the new installation).

your reply, LOOK AT IT!

definitly missing agp or chipsetdrivers. no other way!!
