Anyway, alt+enter works pretty good @ linux :D I was using console by ctrl+alt+f1 thing (and then ctrl+alt+f7 to get back) but if you really want to have desktop you can always use two x-screens. Ask plekter for details :D :D
What distro? Etswitch may be precompiled for yours!

google how to use ubuntu packages if don't know that ; )
./etswitch -c - to choose the key to switch
./etswitch -ng - to run etswitch ( now you can run ET )
