¬ CRT Monitor

Dear Crossfire:

I'm looking to buy a cheap CRT off ebay out of curiosity - all this hype about high frame rates. I understand Trinitron and Diamondtron are the most desirable monitors, but is the difference noticeable? Generally, what am i looking for in a CRT monitor? I've found one, but the horizontal frequency is half that of the vertical frequency, how do these two values equate to frames per second? would 85hz be good for a CRT, or should I be looking for higher?

Thankyou and goodnight

oh god, just buy nice blurry lcd and et looks like fairytale there.

<3 lcds

response time? bullshit, no difference anyways
they all are cheap :X
get 21''/22'' so it will handle 1280x960@120hz
i have a 21" capable of that, but I still play in 800x600@120!
Parent
i'm sure you can help me meez :DDDDDDDDDD
Parent
same but 1024x768 here
somehow lower resolutions feel more responsive or smt
Parent
i just took 5 crt 17 and 19inch to the junkyard :/
goto sleep oli ffs
i can't help being a nerd :*(
Parent
what's your current monitor?
Parent
samsung t220 <:o) but i have room for two
Parent
why do you want 2? :D

Diamondtron is better than Trinitron and you can go in higher Hertz.

The last 22inch series was made by iiyama and the model is Vision Master Pro 514.
That the best you can have on your desk ! Better than all the lcd's led's or wathever.

iiyama HM204DT Vision Master Pro 514

1840 x 1440 / max. 94 Hz
1600 x 1280 / max. 106 Hz
1600 x 1200 / max. 113 Hz
1480 x 1024 / max. 133 Hz
1280 x 1024 / max. 133 Hz
1024 x 768 / max. 177 Hz
800 x 600 / max. 200 Hz
640 x 480 / max. 200 Hz
2048 x 1536 / max. 88 Hz

iiyama HM204DT Vision Master Pro 514

i wanted that 1so badly back in the day.. but theyre never or rarely on the dutch "ebay" variants

so i got the pro 454: > 19inch 120@1280x960

still not bad.. and my probably my first crt that didnt break within 2years lol
Parent
is it the best _available_ ? I'd like to buy one, but no shops selling it.
Parent
Only second hand shop ! :(
Mine comes from a 3d designer.
Parent
u should have 100Hz (120Hz would be ideal) for the resolution u are going to use

buy iiyama if u want a good one
¬ get lcd
randomdude: what should i get a ferari or veryon?
Dezire: get a honda civic!
Parent
your comments makes no sense :D
Parent
thats what you just said.. but in other words

*why get something (much) worse when you can get something so much better/more comfortable too
Parent
i didnt, since first the lcd is more expensive as the CRT (ferrari is way more expensive as the civic so thats the other way arround)

also the lcd looks better as the crt (and ferrari obviously looks way better as the civic so thats also the other way arround)
Parent
im talking about performance-_- not the looks
if you like to race/drive fast (not talking about the money) you should get 1 of those

if youre a gamer you should rather get a CRT

talking about looks lol.. then wed just all stop buying eyepads and icemats as well
and get 5l's, qpads and razer mantis pads insteads cause of the cool prints! oooh looks
Parent
i just made 2 points ...
Parent
razer mantis speed owns
Parent
like crt makes any difference in performance haha
Parent
like haha no it doesnt.. lcds are much better actually
forgive me..
I JUST LOVE LCDS FOR THEIR AWESOME REFRESH RATES, COLORS AND LATENCIES
Parent
i actually love lcd for their colors and blurriness.
and as i said, refresh rate and latency doesnt affect gameplay at all...
Parent
they do... my 120hz crt vs your 32ms 60hz lcd?
Parent
I didnt even know my laptop's screens latency. so, its 32ms? Alright, so now listen up - I have also 17" LG lcd with 8ms and you know what? I see NO difference between 8 and 32 ms :-) So why should I see any difference between 32 and crt's latency?
Parent
this is useless-_-
Parent
Yes, until you don't stop trying to tell me that I see the difference, while I repeat that FOR ME there's no difference..
Parent
i still got a CRT monitor XD
17 inch i guess D:
i dont get why there are no 100hz Lcd's? Cause there are 100hz LCD TV's but why no monitores.
there arent really.. they just call it 100hz

i got a dutch explanation here:/ but youre not dutch are you?
Parent
Samsungs solution is different from the previous ones. We will start with the theory first of all. The monitor tested is a European model, which means that the initial frequency isnt 60 Hz like US TVs (for example), but 50 Hz. By increasing to 100 Hz, Samsung doubles the flow. The "easy" solution would have been to double the number of images but this isnt what Samsung does. According to the manufacturer, a processor calculates one intermediate image between the two sent by the DVD player or computer. Its an intelligent real time calculation.

lcd image quality sux versus good crt.
Lcd = good design and that all, if you are searching quality, think about crt product.
