Screen tearing

CRT @

120hz + 76/85/100/125fps = tearing

100hz + 76/85/100/125fps = tearing

85hz + 76/85/100/125fps = tearing

75hz + 76/85/100/125fps = tearing

using ATI tray tools and ATI Display driver 8.12

Please tell me how to get a fucking smooth picture, it's pissing me off...

Get used to it. You could get rid of it with r_swapinterval 1, but that's not recommended for playing.

Fuck if I would, used to play with 76/75, 125/100 or 100/100 with absolutely 0 tearing with an 850xtp so there must be something that's fucking it up, Kinda hard to aim when you can't even flickshot precise cuz you lose vision if you move your mouse faster then a player is moving while sprinting, don't even wanna talk about what happens when you get screenshake ...

Are you telling me it worked fine on the same hardware some time ago? Just try and remember the stuff you changed that might cause this, unless you are expecting some clairvoyant to post a fix to your problem.

Nah I have a new rig now, but it's the same in every opengl game, HL2 engine games run beutifully, so does quake/live. I just uninstalled drivers went into safemode and removed the rest and did a fresh install but it's the same, I've tried every driver there is that supports my card but nothing works. I can't play with a lagging screen, it's impossible. Maybe it's pb since it's taking around 80% cpu together with ET.exe .. gonna try some aa+af and vsync now :(

System specs, OS, etc.?

all in mah profile

There's no way to avoid tearing other than synchronizing frame buffers with vertical refresh (r_swapinterval 1). If you didn't notice it before when using 125FPS/100Hz then I guess you just got yourself new glasses. :)

I seriously never had any tearing, at least not as noticable as this. When I turn sometimes the picture from the starting point is still on the screen when I move to a stop, it's like some weird blurr and you need a second to even see where you are. And screenshake is untolerable, I usually can't even see the model on mid distance cuz the picture is so distorted. It's really not normal, been playing for almost 3 years and it never was so fucked up.

fps lag afaik!
Parent
true that usually does it but my lagometer and fps are stable, maybe pb faking fps :DDDDDD

I am used to massive tearing all the fucking time due to my shitty 5ms TFT but i've found higher picmip reduces the tearing considerably, my TFT can only get 60hz but I use an r_displayrefresh of 50 and fps capped 100, maybe that's why i'm so shit or w/e but that's what works for me.
stop always underrating yourself ffs!
Parent
ye picmip 3 does help a little but it's still really gay, can't imagine how it's like on a TFT :(
Parent
doubt your tft is running 50hz :)
Parent
/com_maxfps 43.1
i got massive tearing @ rmode 8

rmode 7 with 125fps/120hz is a smooth as i can get it
same here , but with r_mode 6
Parent
Hate to sound like an idiot ::: But what is tearing? XD
u got waves on ur screen
Parent
Shouldn't tearing occur basically only when displayrefresh and fps match each other?
ye it should :D
Parent
It appears when displayrefresh and fps do not match, or when they match but frame buffers are not synchronized with vertical refresh.
Parent
ye I know what u mean, so we need same ratio for both, just in different phase, otherwise tearing can't really happen

Use my monitorz with my configz
I is laik on ebays and like bidding on zeh vision master pr0 454 n stuffz
