why on earth would it be a showmatch? makes no sense what so ever.

well considering they said they would prefer to play against other NC teams i dont see why it would be a problem for the opposing team to go from a 100/+ to a normal one in a official game. Thinking of it from another NC teams point of view i would rather play against team jp on a US east coast server than a random cheating mix with a 48 ping

(don't get the show match part either so :D)

European teams seemed to fair well enough on NA servers for the Quakecon qualifiers, and the numerous Atlantic Battles. You can get a steady ~100 ping to east coast, very playable in the centre & west isn't terrible.
