It does. They tested all antivirus programs and it seemed that the avira antivir free edition was on the second place.

Like one test statisy it as good ...

Ive used it too for ages and got virues all the way, never had a problem with nod32/kaspersky so far.

avira works in a sandbox enviroment, if you didn't have the worm on your pc(either by allowing the worm to enter/the worm is undetected/you had it before you installed avira) it wont be able to replicate.

You may have noticed (not) that nearly every Antivirus developer has specific tools for some worms that you have to download when infected.

maybe, but you can check if it's a falve positive by http://virusscan.jotti.org for example, not so hard :P google is useful also

It´s NOT better in detecting. It can´t detect rootkits e/g. False positives are also np imo, and way better than no alert.

it detects a lot of real threats and doesn't add any false ones, with antivir I'd never be sure if it's the real thing or not

Can happen with every Scanner, and as I said it can´t detect rootkits, mainly Viruses.

Yes PB is spyware. But that's perfectly okay because at some point you pressed 'okay' to an agreement that noone reads, that allows evenbalance to do whatever the hell they like to your computer and the information stored on it.
