p.s Three Tailed Beast OMG!
the DB gets stuck around ~700 so im fine with 500 *both normal and 3g*
+1
depends on the mouse, razer DA & most laser mice can keep fucking stable 1000hz
And if you're talking about the fact that you get stable 1000hz at way higher speeds than 500hz it's not actually the problem. The measuring programs check the time between 2 signals from the mouse containing the coordinates it has moved. If you use 500hz - the time between 2 signals is 2ms, while @ 1000hz it's 1ms, so to make the program show stable 1000hz you need to make the mouse send coordinates every millisecond which is way harder than to make it send it every 2ms and if the mouse has moved 0 pixels while that second it simply skips the current usb poll. So the frequency is still 1000hz if you move it 1cm per second while the measuring software will measure like <100hz. Set 99999999dpi and it would show 1000hz @those turtle speeds. So that's not the rate that changes but the mouse coordinates.
Overdrive once wrote that you should use 250hz coz it gets stable earlier...
oh yeah found it:
As i already have writen that stability @ measuring software is absolute bullshit
And pls cmon... why the fuck should they use fuckung 250hz instead of 1000hz... 3ms difference is pretty much... people use 75hz instead of 60hz @ displayrefresh, people don't use 90fps instead of 125fps... Also you won't get extra smoothness by synchronising mouse hz with your FPS since the mouse hz is way bigger than fps so there's absolutely no reason to use something different from the maximum supoported by mouse
absolute bullshit. even if you use some chinese shitty cheap mobo or usb hub it wouldn't get fried... 1000hz isn't rly high frequency u know... There're just some mobo's which refuse to work @1000hz... As for mouse life-span any mouse which can handle stable 1000hz won't suffer from that ... actually i havn't met any case with somebody's mouse breaking coz of 1000hz, only problems with wires or some problems after years of physical damage.
so no
1000hz is better in any aspect: smoothness, reaction time, etc
You'd better not to use it only if you always go to LANs or your home PC doesn't work @1000hz
Oh and all this crap was about mice which work flawlessly @1000hz
those which can't get stable 1000hz like optical logitech or razer db should better work @500hz ;o
but if you convince me that after switching to 1000hz my DA will perform better i'm willing to give it a try :)
you got a point there :P Allways though dxtimerdialog showed accurate measurements :P
so basically those utilities only help to know if your mouse can handle 1000hz or not
And 1000hz is much smoother than 250 coz you have 8 states per frame instead of 2 + responce is much faster. I barely feel difference between 1000 and 500, but between 250 and 1000 it's easily noticeable
