...I fucking hate you.

If I try to request the password of my account, the site tells me to proof that the account belongs to my emailaddress, and if I want to create a new account with that email address, it tells me that there already is an account linked to that email.


WHAT THE FUCK


Seriously, recode the fucking site clanbase, if you want to appear professional, else just die in a carcrash, nativity of hell.


Also, I only have to proof that because i haven't logged into my account for more than a year or two lol. It's so fucking ridiculous and senseless.

Are you kidding me? I tried to recover it, but I can't because I didn't log in for like 2 years. So how am I supposed to remember the password lol. I also don't know why the owner of the emailaddress an account is linked to would suddenly change after 2 years.

it tells me that i haven't logged in for too long and that i need to proof that this is my account. i can make a ss of it if you dont believe me. it tells me to proof it by making a trustee (?) or a clanleader tell them that this is the case, but i asked the clanleader a few days ago after him not being online for like one year, and he told me that he's got the same problem.

If they believe me that it is my account and remove it, yours is going to be next. If they really removed my account, I would fucking laugh my ass off. Removing accounts w/o proofs but not sending a password to the email linked to an account. ROTFLMAO

And just use a different mail-adress, as if it's that difficult to make a new mailadress.
Btw, better hope your guids have changed in those 2 years you didn't log in, because otherwise you can make a new journal about how shit CB is.

If the guid hadn't changed, I would already have logged in on clanbase, because then I could prove that it is my account. And I don't want to have 12673 different email addresses just because some pages suck like hell.

Yes, spoken to them and they said my account can't be given back to me if the clanleader of the only clan I'm in on cb (and which has been dead for years) doesn't tell them that this is me. And the clanleader himself happens to have exactly the same problem, only with the difference that he has no clanleader who could confirm cb that this is him.

They stopped playing computergames years ago, and i have no chance to contact them but over the internet, but they all seem to be dead. My sister is also in that clan and she already confirmed that this is me, but they said that this isn't enough. Couldn't gather anyone else, because they aren't contactable.

you have to make a ticket and make screenshot of guid, I had the same thing, its fucking ridiculous... I dont know any other sites it's necessary to enter anything except email to recover pw... Is it because all the users are so retarded they use hotmail with easiest secret questions in the world or what? sigh, only took them like a day or two to fix it after i submitted a ticket though, very fast....

its because some ppl did not use their hotmail email anymore, and other ppl were overtaking it by some dumb system, request pw @ cb, and the cheaters get a new free clean account. was also abused by some guys on crossfire

But roflmao, I've never heard that gmx adresses can be taken over that easily. And well, a non-cheater could create an account and then give or even sell it to a cheater, that's a much easier way than overtaking a hotmail address.

Same problem. i mail them with the e-mail of the account, give examples of the pw, cause i use like 4/5 standard pw for like 5 years, and the still want my guid screenshot.

I tell them i have a new pc for like 1,5 year and the other pc is gone, but they don't give it back and want me to make a new account,.

They just want more members registered...

It's not ClanBase's fault you forgot your password is it?

It's also not ClanBase's fault that you're asked for Clan Leader or trustee from your clan to prove who you are.

Think of the reversed situation. Somebody steals your account because these security measures aren't in place. You'd probably post a journal saying how shit ClanBase was then too.

If someone stole my gmx account, it would really be my mistake because I would have taken a weak password. But locking the account just because I didn't log in for a long time is just a joke. And not accepting the confirmation of my sister that this is my account is just another joke.

And what I don't understand at all is, why this only applies for accounts which have not been used for some time. What about the case that someone steals an email address using a bug, answering the secret question or just figuring out a really easy password? This can also happen to accounts which are constantly being used, and doesn't only apply for accounts which have been inactive for more than a year.

Well the system will assume you don't exist anymore so will be "shocked" that you attempt to log in again after such a long time.

If somebody steals an email address, answers a security question correctly of figures out a password then it's the account holder's fault for being so careless in making it easy for the fraudster.
