change my internal hdd (ger too)

okay so heres the prob.
i just bought a western digital sata hd with 500gb and i bought today this controller sata cause me had ide before.. blaa ^^ w/e
i have allrdy 2 internal hds. windows and one for data (ubuntu on it as well) stuff...

is it possible to start my pc w/o the windows hd (i would put the new one on instead) to copy all my stuff from my data hd to the new big hd...?
if not any other ways?? :o
cause i have no external to copy/paste...

I'd give you another internal HARD DISK free of charge :D

no idea about sata, I'm oldsql :P

its not about the sata its only to change the hds... but uhm im not sure. i could start ubuntu(i have no ideaabout this stuff.. ) and remove my hd with windows on it o copy all stuff from my data hd to new one. after that i remove my small data hd... :///

have no clue either, as long as you don't have that much stuff on it, you could try burning them on some dvd's but I imagine you'd need alot of em :P Wait for someone to pm you, prolly started already :P gl and gn8 *wink*

yes, download ubuntu, burn it to cd, put your disk in, run the cd, copy files, profit????

why don't you just boot up ubuntu, if you have it on the data cd and copy?

Just connect both to the PC , one as master one as slave. Then you can copy it form hd a to hd b

es gibt kein master und slave bei sata mehr. nur bei ide afaik

hmm wie auch immer irgendwie hats net gefunzt mitn umbau kA muss ich die festplattte im bios erst einrichten= ß oder erkennt die der automatisch??

Aha Einbau angesagt, hat alles geklappt kabelmäßig usw? :)

Du kannst die doch einfach mit dranhängen als 3. Platte und mit deinem jetzigen Windows die "Data Disk" kopieren...oder nicht?
Ansonsten brauchste irgendein OS welches von CD booten kann, irgendne Linux Live CD z.b.

also ich hab jetzt diesen sata controller angesteckt und er erkenn sie net hab ganz normal mit windows gebootet.... hmm weil die 8gb war ne daten fesplatte die hab ich jettz einfach rausgenommen.. aber nu erkennt er die neue net... hab aber strom adapter und sata kabel angestecktt...

Also siehst du sie im Windows nicht, oder taucht die im BIOS gar nicht auf? Ist jetzt bisschen schwierig weil ich nicht weiß wie das BIOS bei dir aussieht...

Haste mal gekuckt in Windows unter:
"Systemsteuerung -> Verwaltung -> Computerverwaltung -> Datenträgerverwaltung"
ob sie da auftaucht?

Gut, dann ist BIOS erforschen angesagt :) Ehrlichgesagt bin ich hundemüde und werd jetzt pennen gehen.
Kannst ja mal ins Handbuch schauen, da stehen zumindest die einfachen BIOS Einstellungen i.d.R drin. Das hier war glaub ich das zu deinem Board: ftp://europe.asrock.com/manual/K7VT4A%20PRO.pdf
Könnte sein, dass du erst den SATA Controller aktivieren musst, oder vielleicht den RAID Controller wenn der SATA kontrolliert...werds mir morgen mal durchlesen, wenn du nicht weitergekommen bist, aber heut geht nix mehr. Schreib einfach hier rein wies aussieht :) GL&HF

Das sind nur Jumper die man aber zumindest als "privatuser" normal nicht benötigt. Schreibschutz, Spin up delay usw...braucht dich nicht kümmern.

Jo wär ne Option aber afaik sollte das seit Service Pack 2 auch kein Problem mehr sein, probiers kaputtgehen kann nix, ich sag mal gn8!
