New pc from german webshop.

Well I'm not exactly a hardware hero so I'd like to get some help with putting my new pc together. It should be ordered from a german website the price should be somewhere inbetween 600 and 800 euro and it should be suitable for ET/Wolfenstein, video editing and designing. (btw, taxes, steuer excluded)

Please help crossfire! :)

AMD fanboi?

4870 overheats and has driver problems, and although I have heard that the phenom II is a good chip.. AMD are a couple of generations behind Intel on architecture.
Parent
lal... 4870 is most bang for buck, and besides, if it actually overheats (which isn't the case, I believe) you just buy an other cooler?
Parent
If you have to buy a 30 quid cooler on top is it really most bang for buck?

My friends 4870 got to 100c and crashed half way through GTA. It runs fucking hot compared to my 8800gt which is around 60c on load.

Quoteif it actually overheats (which isn't the case, I believe)

Well clearly you aren't really that informed.. Just because it’s top on a benchmark on tom's hardware doesn't mean it’s without its faults..

e.g. this is from AMD's website, but I doubt you could read it all as it is forty fucking pages long...

lal 100c

Looks like a lack of proper airflow xD

You can also get a 4870 out of shop without a refference cooler (liek the sapphire one)

Stock coolers are around 65c loaded
Parent
Tbh half of the people I know who have this card think it owns, the other half have driver problems in games and overheating problems so it's just a buyer's beware..

65c on stock.. lies lies lies

lol, you telling me to learn reading?

Guys posted in your comments have way lower temps then 65c cause they use other kind of cooling. If you look up the guys using stock coolers you'll see that most of them are around 60-65 (normal conditions...)
Parent
Where is this thread from? The North Pole?

Working part time with pcs tells me from experience without a few 120mm fans, running a stock 4870 will be 70c + on load..

What are you basing your claims on? Some random thread from the internetz?
Parent
I just don't believe that the 4870 reaches 100c
I'm running a 3870X2 OC and it never gets warmer than 85c on load, and then we're talking about two chips and stock cooling

Those forums just support my thoughts ;)
Parent
If you don't clean your fans regularly and don't have great cooling the 4870 can reach 100c easily. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who doesn't take above avergae care with their case.
Parent
4870 = 60°C idle 90/100°C load
Parent
have the 4870 myself and I had no driver problems of which everyone from the nvidia corner is talking about. you just get more for your money with AMD and ATI products.
Parent
My friends 4870 got so hot part of the soldering on the connecters got fucked. That's not really cheaper if it breaks in the first month of use.

Luckily sapphire replaced it for free..
Parent
got the OC MSI version, dunno if it's a sapphire specific problem
Parent
I think it's a problem with not only the ATI 4xxxs but also the 3xxxs
Parent
I'm proud owner of a GTX280 XXX-Version and I can tell you that it kicks every ATI products ass on higher resolutions 1600*1200+, proven by 3DMark06.
Parent
XXX? Is that the porn version?

might be, but who actually plays in that resolution to need such a monster for more than the double price (if you mean this one http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a344933.html). you take a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

also if you look at power consumption, omfg you can supply a mid sized city with electricity for more than a year if you abandon that "thing".
Parent
I got 2 monitors with resolution 1920*1200, thats why I prefer a product where I can get stable fps on all games, crysis included on high settings.

I will also be able to play games fluently for the next year (at least) and thats why Im more than happy to pay double the price, whereas ATI has driver problems with serveral of the new games, which result in game crashes, graphics errors and as already mentioned overheating.
Parent
hopefully you know that the nature is dying because of you!

Parent
are you and S3ti the same person? you are definitely annoying on the same range.
Parent
We are kindered spirits.
Parent
Are you and ^pala the same person, you seem to share the same superficial knowledge :)
Parent
they don't overheat, just produce more heat, it's nothing to be worried about if you are not an intenisve OCer, or if you have an decent case
Parent
realist fanboi
Parent
if you call me an amd fanboy you can consider yourself as an intel fanboy
Parent
Well you could, but it would be foolish considering my last PC was a Venice core 3500+ and an ATI 1950 pro
Parent
opinions can change. wrong reply btw
Parent
Sorry I was confused because I originally accused you of fanboism.
Parent
it's just my opinion :<
Parent
It's not wrong either.
Parent
Not rly, had 3 AMD rigs in times they were faster, I would call that realistic...

In our last discussion about AMD/Intel stuff you just resigned and stopped replying when you realized the facts. Just keep on fanboying, I will always have a good laugh :)
Parent
AMD's VERY new CPUS are better over intels C2Q, esp in bang for the buck
the 750(?) even beats the i7 if not same score, and the price different is from sky to earth
Parent
Sure, like the performance is different from sky to earth if you dare to compare the i7 series here. What do you expect, cheaper cpu with more performance? :D
http://www.tomshardware.com/de/Phenom-II-X4-Technologie-Benchmarks,testberichte-240212-15.html
Parent
you are an closed mind, the X3 720 Phenom beats the i7 and such an rig costs 50% less than an i7, i'm done arguing
Parent
http://www.hartware.de/review_901_4.html

LMAO the lowest i7 is twice as fast, dunno where you have your infos from :F
Sure, it´s more expensive but you almost get the double performance.

You can argue with price/performance ratio, where AMD is partially better, but please stop comparing absolute performance, you will make no mark. I would be done too if I had to argue with such a clueless crap :D
Parent
you can stop comparing sandra, it has nothing to do with gaming, and you just don't know what to compare, just stop arguing with people

stop with your stupid benchmarks, really
Parent
Dude, stop comparing games/programs which are gfx-card dependent to measure a cpu´s performance. Many other factors are involved when it comes to gaming. As I said price/performance is another point but when it comes to absolute performance it´s getting ridiculous to compare them. Just plain stupid what you did here :)

So let´s stop it right here, I could go on forever and the results will always be the same and you will continue wearing your blinders.
Parent
you just compared something which is completely different than gaming, and thats what we are talking about
hey lets stop it, make peace, both cpus are good, the end
Parent
QuoteAMD's VERY new CPUS are better over intels C2Q, esp in bang for the buck

I don´t read anything about gaming here, do you? It´s an absolute statement comparing Phenoms to i7s. So articulate yourself clearly next time.

make peace, both cpus are good, the end
Parent
yeah other discussion when you suddenly dug out the old 3870 which wasn't even competitive. You remember the good old times when AMD crushed Intel with it's athlon 64? ooh, not to mention the prices intel had when they won over amd products.

maybe some intel CPUS are faster now, but TODAY you get the best for your money with AMD and ATI.
Parent
Expected that :) I corrected it as you might remember and posted up to date comparisons, I even made some price/performance calculations only for you and...oh wait, nothing can convince a hardcore fanboi :/
Parent
you are an closed mind, I'm done arguing like pala said
Parent
Sure np, I would be done too.
Parent
the new phenoms rock :)
Parent
price wise amd is very cheap vs intel quad core 3 ghz. Is it much worse on performance?
you seem to know :) Ive never had intel processor because they are so expensive, but i promised myself that next upgrade is gonna be INTEL .now after checking prices that phenom is tempting indeed,
Parent
price/quality ratio is a lot better on amd's side. however the 940 is in my opinion a top CPU which I would always prefer over intels 920/940/Q9550 or else.

basically intels got some faster CPUs, but they are way more expensive.

See the reviews listed

Parent
mstk pretty much said it, although you could change psu to enermax modu82+ if you want detachable cables
yeah modu is good if you want to casemod and for a better overall ventilation, else the pro version should do it's job ;)
Parent
I only care about performance so a cheaper but faster system = win
Parent
so the pro version should be your pick
Parent
waarom uit duitsland?
duits bedrijf -20% btw = win
Parent
wrm zou je daar geen btw moeten betalen?
Parent
Omdat de pc via een kennis met een eigen bedrijf word besteld.
Parent
ah vetjes :) gl dermee
Parent
I know you would pick a fine one on your own.
I doubt it. :P

Blame the Germans :X
Lavod, you heard about the bene-cup http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=news&mode=item&id=4447?

If you wanna play, Gelderland would be glad ;)
I could perhaps play but I'm not really active and backup at authentic aswell. But I'll signup anyway. :)
