Comp help! :(

My laptop randomly shut down on Thursday and when I try to turn it on now it says "Operating system not found". Is there a way to fix this? I think it will be expensive so I'm looking at buying a new computer, except I know nothing about them and can only spend 600 euro!

I don't want another laptop as their obviously shit for gaming. I'd like to get a stable 76/125 fps on Et and at least be able to run cod4. I'm looking at getting a Dell inspiron 530 and maybe after a while put a new video card in it: http://ireland.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/desktops_great_deals?c=ie&cs=iedhs1&l=en&s=dhs
(2nd one there)

Without the new card, what kind of fps would I be able to get on that in ET/cod4?

Suggestions for decent comps/laptops are welcome! :)

Get a Core2Duo processor. The E8400 is the best performance for money atm.

If you have 600 euros, then why not buy a pc that will last you?

don't buy a dell for gaming you'll regret it, buy the parts separately and put it together yourself, have a look at www.overclockers.co.uk

Its like lego man, the parts can only fit in one place, you'll get a MUCH better computer for cheaper if you do it that way, even get someone else to put it together for you,

Case
Powersupply
Ram
Motherboard
Processor

and maybe a hard drive, dvddrive if you need them

If you ask people to pick out decent parts for your budget they will I dunno whats good anymore:P

I personally wouldnt pay for an operating system when you can download them for free, and xp is better than vista imo! theres only a 50 euro difference in the price of the two now with that card and vista!
