5700dpi wow that's 100 more than the mamba and thusly must be a better mouse.
5700 DPI is an absolute necessity for accurate cursor movement.

Yes plus knowing the exact coefficient of friction is vital when choosing your mousemat any gamer worth his salt will know the exaction coefficient of his equiptment. I also find it necessary to know the distance to the nearest centimeter when my mousefeet will wear out so I can ration my 180's during the game.
Parent
More DPI equals a bigger penis.
Parent
u dont need more than 800 dpi, high dpi is shit
Parent
Actually my comment was a satirical one attempting to show the "dpi war" going on amongst gaming companies. When any "serious" gamer would never dream of even looking for such features.
Parent
yes yes, high dpi is shit, JUST FUCKING SAY IT THIS WAY
Parent
how old is that, srsly
older than your mom
Parent
5700dpi is totally useless :)
i'm still using 400 so fuck off
sens 0.1 and 5700 dpi its better to play with high dpi and low sens as high sens and low dpi
Parent
Rofl

Firstly the Quake 3 + high dpi = negative acceleration.

Secondly no one play high enough sens to require anything nearly as high as 5700dpi and if you use that you're probably shit anyway.

Lastly, Dpi is just how many pixels your mouse moves per inch it's got nothing to do with accurate movements, unless it is so low with high in game sens that it skips pixels, or it is too high with low in game sens so you get negative accel.
Parent
maybe this is true, but i am not a friend of high dpi :)
Parent
Srsly... who needs 8 buttons on his mouse?
Well, it's not necessary, but it's a nice feature - I'm currently using g5/roccat kone:

left -> shoot
right -> alternative
middle -> kill
left tilt -> colt
right tilt -> mp40
scroll -> medpack/syring
dpi up -> spawntimer
dpi down -> knife
thumb1 -> nade
thumb2 -> push to talk when in somebody's-talking-with-me mode

I know I could as well have it on keyboard, but I like it that way :)
Parent
Sure...it all depends on personal affections and the fact how you got used to your keyboard/mouse-keymapping... but still its kinda useless :P
Parent
well, I must say: it surprised me in a good way. Razer went to the path of the shitty cordless-enabled mices which are too heavy to use and low laser pointers. I would lower down the dpi to like 1600 dpi max anyway, but the shape of it looks better than g5 - I am using the +/- for timer/knife and in g5 they are slighly too far to be clicked. After all, it looks better than g9 which I haven't even bought after all.

It is now all up to icemat support - the first laser mouse to work okayish on it was roccat kone, will it be better? :>
i'm going to use something else then a logitech possibly.. in 1.5 - 2 years i've broken a mx518, a g7 and now my g9 stopped working. I'm looking for something a bit more durable =\
Stop throwing the mices through your room...hähä...
My old G5 worked for 3 years without any problems... then i switched to the G5 refresh wich is also working for like 1.5 years now... also no problems here...
Parent
the mx518 once fell on the ground which probably killed it, the g7 started to endure mousewheel errors and now the g9 is logging in and out in usb port which causes huge lag and mouse faillure.
Parent
Had similar problem, but it's gone since I tape cord in a way it won't move too much ;)
Parent
how do you kill logitech stuff. never happened to me, only to my old logitech ballmice :p
Parent
generally i trust logitech stuff to be most durable.. but a while ago also my logitech g15 died because some keys appeared to be blocked (when i pressed them they would only respond half of the time) even though i cleaned it 3 times over a period of a year.

So i'm starting to have my doubts about this brand and i might switch to something else x)

deathadder is win
waiting for new Steelseries mice, Xai and Kinzu
Which are you going to get? The only advantage of the Xai that I see is that it had sidebuttons.
Parent
dunno, will wait for 1st reviews and responses first to choose the mouse which has less issues :D
Sidebuttons is idd the most important advantage and i rly cant say if they are worth the huge price difference since i cant live without them :[]
Parent
I only ever use the side button for colt in Et and for rail in Quake so I could live without it. However the kinzu might be too small/lightweight compared to the Xai.
Parent
lol nobody needs 5700 dpi...
the optic of all logitech mouses, are bad!
image: 20090820-razer-nager-mmo-maus

overkill ? you will be the judge of that...
Is that for real?how could you select the correct little button with ur thumb while playing?
