few friends of mine at least had that problem when they just dloaded some ET pack which was not an installer.

Seems that some people fend this problem off with different solutions which don't necessarily have to help others. The thing that helped me is:
-run ET with a minimizer on and minimize it
-open task manager
-right click on ET.exe and set it's priority higher
-restart ET

Worked perfectly for me.
