Parent

Parent
sry but it was just the most stupid action by u
Parent
yeah, it was 2 years ago, didnt know much about pcs. dont know much now either though
Parent
Don't delete this file if it's in "x:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe" directory. If it's in any other location probably it's a virus.
Parent
svchost is a windows process LOL
so thats why it cant be infected? too bad my antivirus is still whining about it
Parent
Well, it can be infected. Nothing is invincible.

Try using NOD32 as your AV.

In the meantime, clean out your spyware by using this:

avg isn't shit antivirus and it's not that rare that virus is inside an exe
Parent

Try another antvirus, NOD32 is nice.

Give Malware Bytes a go and see if it returns anything. Is the best free software I've come across so far!

Could be a false positive though, as they do happen with random things. Sophos at work thinks that Adobe Download Manager is a virus! :(
lol stupid nerd :) go eat donuts fatty :)
i dont like donuts
Parent
sure, was that the same thing you said to Ronald? ;D;sd,d.s.d
Parent
there is no viruses for windows and btw caek is lie
AVG is shit. Used to be good. Not anymore.
AVG was good...but it became worse and worse
too many files like cdkey-gen or fun virus get detected
delete it and go for Avast!
never heard of it, and cannot find it in Top-lists
since Avast always was reliable @vista, i´ll also use it for XP soon
Parent
Never heard of nod32? D:
Parent
nod32 is the second best anti virus available, after kaspersky ofc
Parent
not only avg prob, anvivirus companies are paid to tell keygens etc are threats to ur pc to fight against piracy
Parent
the svchost.exe is run by the xp-accounts "system", "networkservice" and "local service" (dont know the english names of it, as my xp is in german). if there is one svchost.exe running under your account, kill it, find it, delete it.
viruses are so 2005
AVG, yeah.. windows = virus

svchost is a generic bunching tool by windows, I think the full version AVG have a svchost scanner, otherwise there are plenty around so you can look what yours contains.
THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!
I got 8 of those but they're system/Local service/network service. What H0uD!n1 said..
svchost loads system services, including third-party ones, so you better check services and disable the wrong one
their is a svchost.exe indeed.

It will take your processes to 90% useage it freaking annoying.

AVG should get rid of it, otherwise download ESET NOD32 from isohunt or something like that.

Maybe you're infected with the taskmon.exe viruas too, check it in your processlist
Dont listen to these comments saying its a windows proccess.
SVhost is a host proccess for DLL files, so it can be infected (nimwits). It could be a dirty DLL, or it could be code injected into the original executable. Your easiest option is to re-install windows, however this isnt always an option, so you could try safemode, and replacing the corrupt files. Dont delete svhost without replacing them, it handles windows sound, DHCP, etc. So if you do, your fucked, and you wouldve been quicker re-installing windows.

You shouldnt come to crossfire looking for help, only a select few acctualy know what their talking about. The rest will just talk shit, they think they know PCs because they can write an ET configuration file (lol). Go to microsoft forums for support in future.
Check where its running from, its probably not an actual windows process just named the same or it could be infected like you said, Restart in safe mode and try running spybot and your antivirus or try windows defender
