Gintama is about this freelancer samurai Gintoki who does odd jobs to play for the rent. The story takes place in Edo, Japan which has been taken over by aliens.

The style of the anime is sort of quirky and a bit unconventional, but it's enjoyable because of all the laughs and the peculiar sense humour.
