Stupid shocking game!

Hi guys,

When I play my game (Enemy Territory) the game shocks every 3 seconds. Just for a fraction of a second. This is not only when I am in a server playing. When I just boot up the game and I am in the mainmenu there are clouds floating in the background. And after the same periods every time (each 3 seconds) those clouds stop moving for just a millisecond. Also when I move my mouse in circles, every 3 seconds it stops for about a millisecond. Like it is sending date to my computer and then moves on or smth.

I hope you guys can help me! My specs are:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Dual Core
MotherBoard: not specified
HD: Western 250 GB
Monitor: Acer AL1916W
Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio
Graphics: Nvidea Geforce 8300GS
Memory: Kingston 2048 MB
Connection: Cable

Already did the following things:
Reïnstall ET
Set Virtual Memory to 0. (For the swapfiles)
Scan for virusses.

I think that keyboard is causing the problem since you listed it.

Hmm I tried but still the same. Only thing is that my CPU usage displayed at taskmanager is lowered to 50% instead of 95%.

Thx!

Oke delete vista

:D
Sounds like a multithreading prob, either set ET to use just one core of your CPU(Taskmanager, proccess's, set affinity). You'll have to do this each time you run ET i think. If its no bigdeal for you to use 1 core overall, go to BIOS (Press DEL at CMOS load, the bit before windows starts booting up) and turn off SMP in advanced CPU settings.

Simples.
sorry to be a kick in the dick, but what the hell does that bios thing do?

it will still be possible to play other high spec games?

It'll disable the hyperthreading via the hardware itself, meaning the CPU will show as 1 now, But effectivley cutting its performance in half. Not really recomended if you play games that are more CPU dependant than ET.
Parent
fuck that then.

anymore tips for improving performance?

Tonns, disable all the services that you dont use, defrag harddisks, increase paging file size, defrag RAM to unload unused DLL files, turn off programs u dont use, remove windows components you dont use, extensivley tweak 3d/openGL settings, remove any hardware bottlenecks, check that your CMOS settings are optimal, if not, set to default and work from there, limit the amount of CPU time an application is allowed, e.g. PB's executables. (I dunno how bad PB now, i dont play myself)The list goes on really, find yourself a tweak guide on the net and spend some time on it, remember to test after each operation.

Disable GL extensions
i had the same with wireless internet.
since you don't have it ill still post the solution for how i solved the problem:

start => press right button on 'My Computer' => manage => Services and Applications => services => Wireless Zero Configuration => Disabled.

Problem solved for me:P
You should also point out that you will now require a third party application to manage wireless connections. Even if he dont use wireless, someone else might read this and use it, then find their network wont configure.

Set Threaded optimization to false in NVidia Control Panel. It might help.
I wish I could help you:< gl
