Game sound problem!

I bought myself a new headset this morn since I broke my new one in rage! It's a Steelseries Siberia V2.

Anyway, all my game sounds are coming from different directions. Or at least it sounds that way. Basically, I hear my team mates shooting in directions that are off the actual map and when they are to running in front of me, the sounds are coming behind.

Anyone know what the problem is or how to solve it?

I have had this problem several times, the solution is to check before you put your headset on...

its something to do with 5.1/7.1 sound settings i used to have one cant remember what i did to change it :(
