Ok i just bought MW2, then started playin. Kickass solo mode...
BUT:
What the hell is that mission with Makarov at the airport?!
At first mission, you learn how to shoot enemy and how to dont shoot at civils and stuff, but then, 3rd or 4th mission, there you go you have to massacre hundreds of civils, and nothing else.
I dont get it seriously. Like we need that kind of stuff in videogames. What will be next? A game about rwanda? Come on let's kill more than 1000 tootsies in less than one minute! What the fuck...
Probably most of you guys dont fuckin care about this and will post some retarded comments but i still think videogames dont need that kind of shit. We can "play" the war, but there is some limits in my humble opinion.
Hope i will not see that kind of shit in the rest of SP...
Have a good night.

Age: 24 ( 25 September 1985 )
jesus -.-
Oh you like killing people like that? Go to a hospital real quick dude.
You can like gore but imo not that kind of.
Even if you are 19, or supposed to be, it seems you dont have the maturity to understand my point on this journal, or you didnt read it carefully.
I bet you didnt play that game yet, so your point is childish AND useless.
GO WHINE SOMEWHERE ELSE, BITCH
I just don't find it in any way disturbing - there will be always some mentally ill kids who play way too much video games and then go on massacres .. after playing for a while CS / GTA or as it was in Latvia - few pupils killed a same age girl while trying to replicate Mortal Kombat moves.
It has nothing to do with videogames itself. If it wasn't for the game, they would've ran into something else that gives them inspiration for their already fucked up minds.
The problem is simply parenting and psychological health care.
Only thing what comes in mind are parents buying 18+ video games for underage kids, so almost "telling" them that violence is OK and normal thing to see ... Or are there any other [bad] parenting examples?
If you as a parent guide and teach your kid into the rights and wrongs of things then there must be something mentally wrong at childbirth before a kid like that will start a school rampage.
due to fsk, the game is CUT in germany, since there is a possibility for you to shoot civilians too but the game will end if you do so.
i just read that yesterday somewhere.
almost done installing.
e: IW stole my nick the bastards.
e2: Fuck it really bothers me that the guy is called Roach.
e: no I'm dl'g from steam hahahahaha
Don't shed tears

It has an 18+ label on it and the scene itself is about an American soldier who is undercover who is in a situation where he can't blow his cover and thus he has to go along with what's happening. The plot itself however is that he's being used to start a war between Russia and the US, from which point the rest of the game is based on. Seems like you can't understand it was just a vital part of the story of the game.
Besides, what the fuck are you so upset about? Are you gonna post a journal each time a movie has a shocking scene in it as well? I know tons of movies that have way more horrible scenes than the one you are so upset about and you never hear anything about that.
People need to step of the stupid idea that video games are influencing people to re-enact the scenes from the game in real life. If that is your real worry then you should be more worried about how parenting and psychological care can be improved because I can assure you it has nothing to do with video games, music, movies or any other form of entertainment that contains graphic scenes.
Probably he means the fact that you have to do it (game forces you to do so even if you don't want), not you have to see others do it (movies). Well ,you got the idea :)
Anyway, my point was that (and though that mw2 is also one of them) some games force you to do things (like this civilian shootout) in order to move to next level, not like there's someone behind your back and while pointing a gun at your head and in that way forcing you to play it ... :)
But even if it didn't ask you that question, the game is certified with 18+ for a reason.
When there's "Will be something shocking/disturbing now", I'm pretty sure that everyone ignore that fact and are curious to see what exactly will be so shocking
If you know you are a person that will be offended or disgusted with certain things then you shouldn't whine after you selected "yes I will play that mission". Curiosity killed the cat.
But the thing is i would better like to see a scene to explain this part of the story, no need to play it. Seriously did you enjoy this mission? I didnt.
It has nothing to do with videogames influencing people to act like that in real life and thats not my worry. I just think its a bit sick to play that kind of scene.
It's all pretend and fantasy. Hell, a movie is a lot more realistic than some models of a video-game but you never hear anyone about that. Or even worse, the news. You see tons more horrific stuff on there that actually happened for real. That's the kinda stuff that makes my stomage turn around. But textures and models on a video game? Nah. Not even in the slightest.
Im not screamin that this is absolutely not right to have this in a videogame, i just think its useless and you can tell the story with another way. I think there shouldnt be some stuff either in news, than videogames, than movies, etc. Yes its utopist but that is just my point.
Nice discussion tho, for once someone replied something smart and interesting :)
Ill read the rest tomorrow.
The other thing I mentioned below...seems like the developers are really attempting to provoke governments for some reason... We need a study group, or at least a PhD student to sort this out into understandable reasoning for us lowly dumb gamer types ..:/
I don't agree with you on developers wanting to provoke governments. I don't see the scene as provoking in any way. It's just a fictional story, just like any other hollywood production of which nobody ever whines about (apart from the occasional delusional politician or fanatic)
Besides that I see no harm in such a scene in a video game. It's a game. It's fictional. We've all played games for years and years and have done things in games that would be really horrible in real life but we would never ever even think about doing that for real.
Bullshit. An 18+ label doesn't cover their asses at all. Their asses don't even need covering. What exactly did they do wrong?
An 18+ label is an indication to shop-owners and parents to instruct them to be mindful when kids are going to play that game to be there and guide them into what's right and wrong, or in other words "parenting!".
It's all too easy and just ostrich politics to point the finger towards the entertainment industry, where they should be blaming bad upbringing and bad mental care.
I never hear a politician suggesting to replace the news with episodes of sesame-street because it's too horrific, but yet there it is, right at the 18:00 news around diner time where all the young kids are still wide awake and seeing way more horrific stuff there than in this video game. And yes, way more horrific because that is actually real, and if it's one thing kids do understand at a certain age is the difference between fiction and reality.
Like I said, I agree with you on most of your comments but you are going about it a bit single minded.
I learned English mostly when I was younger, say between the age of 11 and 16. During that time I was pretty active in the Commodore 64 scene. Everyone communicated in English by normal mail and in the demo's you made so that way you pick it up really fast.
Aside from that I've lived in Canada for about half a year but my English was pretty much the same before and after, though during the time there I was able to speak it a lot easier because you speak it every day, all day.
Oh and discovery channel helps a lot too ;-) I used to watch that lots in bed when I still lived with my parents.
I strongly believe though that the fact that tv shows and cartoons etc are not dubbed to dutch in the Netherlands is a factor here. I remember when I was 10 or something that I was watching cartoons on "fun-factory" (english show, doesn't exist anymore afaik) and that it was all in English. That sticks around.
+1
brb spraying real bullets
It aint as bad as Postal where you throw gasoline on people to put them on fire and smash their head off with a shovel to play soccer with his head. (Yeah thats fucked up)
But if you're gonna make a point out of this, you might wanna think of going to law school and join Jack Thompson's campaign against this kind of stuff.
you can cruise through most missions without killing shitloads of civilians, you can stand in line and stuff at the bank instead of going on a massacre.. not that I believe many people choose that route though :D
But the people who do that probably also read the license agreement when installing any program/game.
It might not be real but still, I think it was just useless.
Makes me sad this fps scene, need to go fill up a river with my tears :(((
But on the other hand, after reading what ronner said, though I don't agree with all that he said, does give Politicians more ammo when the next school shooting happens...
This game will be banned / censored in Germany by Merkel and her Minions
This journal will be a long one...well done!
edit.. but off course you are right, but it doesn't change the fact that some politicians are actually looking for these excuses to ban such games...
i guess you were right ;)
actually that mission is fuckin awesome
FFS, i hate this shit. Am sorry (and this isn't pointed at OP) but this shit really has to stop. Its a film/game. What if this happened in a book? Would Politicians get in on that and say 'NOPE!! sorry you'll have to take that sentence out its a bit to graphic...' FUCK YOU!
then i got to know I was killing russians
needless to say i replayed the mission mowing down everyone i could :)
there is a scene that is not suited for lefties and gays
if you are easily offendend click here
if you are a man click here
so i guess you press the wrong button -_-
There's a warning, an option to skip and most importantly it's not _really_ happening.
Did it make you feel guilty inside?
EDITED RIGHT HERE: Take it back to where you got it from. Get a Parental Guidance game.
kk i got it mate.
Explain to me, how the amount of time you have been a member of an internet site, relates to how much you know.
The thing is we were talking about COD: MW2, which has been out for what, a week? Which means I have been a member here for longer than the game has been out. Making your little ""Member For: 1 month and 8 days" jab completely irrelevant.
And please explain how you could know of my experience in discussions :D
What I think you need to comprehend is that my time signed up to this site is not actually relevant to my age!
I actually played that game :D:D:D
