Quake III, though I suppose I would not mind CoD4 either. I would rather not make money from gaming than play Counter Strike: Source; piece of shit garbage game.
More talking about an actual payment per hour. Like that dutch WC3 player from mYm who got an actual contract for playing some hours per day and he was able to make a decent living of that(ofc with extra help from gf working as journalist but he said it paid enough to live normal)
When you start thinking about it there is an insane amount of money in the gaming business. Let's say you spend 1 month with a training schedule, and you become one of the best on a certain game. You can get one big load of money :D
1 month? Tell me the game I only have to invest 1 month to get top and earn shitloads of money and I'm in!
It's rather a year to several more years. Don't forget those guys have been playing Quake or Warcraft for more than 5 years.
Talking about Quake, aimwise you might get to the top quickly, if you're good in other fps games, but they will totally destroy you just with some tricks you wouldn't even think about. It's the experience and tactics that play a HUGE role in those games.
Getting to the top spot wouldn't even be the hardest thing, staying there for several more months is way more difficult.
And if you have a look at how many ppl actually make a living off gaming, and how many ppl are playing or trying to play games competitively, there's no money at all to be made.
(Except those few ppl that play shit games in the first 3 months to win some ridiculously overprized tournament *cough* Wolfenstein *cough*)
About cod I was indeed talking about making 10k pricemoney last year, not really a monthly salary at all. I thought I read Grubby got 10k/month in mYm a couple of seasons, and his gf also got some cash, dno how much though. But about the Grubby case I could be wrong, since the whole grubbymania could be hyping this up :)
Well, to be that good you have to train a lot anyway to keep it up on the top as well (or ever get there in the first place). Gaming is only cool as long as it's fun, and if I feel like I must train, then it's not fun at all.
And my dream isn't really getting 10k in a year and let my gf pay for the rest :D

Quake Live, though it's not really my dream to live off gaming - casual gaming for fun is the shit, making it a job would totally spoil it(at least that's what some pro gamers say).

And imo, gaming for money is no gaming.. its shooting for a "company" just to make them famous.. when you earn money you actualy archieved NOTHING..
