skiing holiday advice!!

I was Supposed to go skiing in january with a few mates and due to one being injured and other who cant afford it i am thinking about going alone, but maybe for a bit less time. As i could not wait to go and don't want to wait another year until we go again.
Thus i need suggestions of resorts which have beautiful skiing and scenery rather than nightlife etc.
also a place where i can stay for not a high price.
budget £500-600 (Alps only, preferably france or austria and going in end of december/january)
random time to post but i need feedback for ideas and quick as would need to book it soon.

and the obvious reason of it being funner with a group of people you know.

- Alphe d'Huez '05
- Les Deux Alpes '06
- Tignes '08
Tignes was the best, la plagne and les 2 alpes also nice, alphe dhuez the worst for sure
