Windows 7 Ventrilo problem

I am using Ventrilo 2.1.4 and I have a problem while playing. Others can hear me fine, but I can't hear them. After I shut the game, I start to hear everything they have said during the game, nonstop. It is really annoying and I have encountered this while playing Heroes of Newerth. Do you know how to fix this, I am a bit desperate already.. And I have tried to google it, the solutions don't work or they are ment to 3rd version of Ventrilo.

right click on the players name, miscelannious => special effects => volume, hf

Tick the use direct sound and put your output device that u use

Run it as administrator and check the windows XP compatibility.
