pc virus

basicly i have a PC virus that when i boot up the PC it loads up to the main screen then a fake security thing comes up saying i need to pay to update and get rid of it. no icons or toolbars are loaded just this message and i cant get rid of it. when i reboot i have

esc: boot menu , F10: setup: F11: system recovery

i cant press F11 it wont let me, but i can press the others. i therefore i have no way of getting rid of it or recovering the PC. my question is do i need to buy a new HD or is there some way of fixing it?

can i just use any random HD say from my other PC ?? or do i need 1 specific to this PC?

what?? you do realise you don't need an OS to format don't you?

You need to know which type of HDD your motherboard takes. It'll most likely be SATA or SATA2 depending on how recent your PC is.

Do you have a Windows disk? Just put that in and you can format your HDD, or atleast reinstall Windows and reformat once you're in.
Always back up your most wanted data.
you have to pay OR enter the serial number if I'm correct, someone has published working keys for this 'antivirus' in november... panda or kaspersky, but I'm not sure atm
go to safe mode and run antivirus/spyware/malware/trojan software
