External HDD + TV?

Does anyone know if it is possible to connect an external HDD with a television directly? Directly means not with the help of a DVD-player or something ... are there any USB to HDMI adapters ... ?

just get a laptop to add HDD + tv, HDMI cable and done

I've already done that ... my DVD player has also an USB slot ;) but I want to know if its possible directly

Well my TV has a USB port and i connect HDD straight to it and it works but dunno about any adapters :X

has a nice o/s and i can play movies pictures and music.

This works with an usb adapters Freecom

Maybe there are others, but i just know this one

I got a HDD that is also a media player, shits amazing! Im watching everything on the tv___
