Right, I got the Klipsch Image S4 a few weeks ago and returned them the same day - see why http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=journal&mode=item&id=88893 Though they did sound great.

I can recommend you the JAYS q-JAYS or Sennheiser CX550. The Q-Jays are dual driver earphones and they have great reviews from audiophiles (search head-fi.org). They are one of the best earphones you can get for that price.

I now own the Sennheiser CX550 and they are brilliant. I'm not sure why Sennhesier released them under the CX series name because they are nothing like the artificial rubbishy CX300/400 earphones. I haven't tried the Q-jays so I can't compare them to the CX 550, but the CX550 also have great reviews amongst audiophiles. I can tell you Jays do have a bad reputation for overpriced stuff (like Apple), although they do perform well but I'm not sure if it's £85+ well. If I was you, buy the CX 550 and q-Jays from amazon and then return the loser.
May I add the CX550 sound better than the S4.

thanks

the cx550 cost only 70eur ? ... unexpected cheap for a quality sennheiser product ... had some random 30eur inear sennheiser be4 and they had like no bass at all.

edit: just read some comments and they say pretty mucht the same about the cx550 "the bass is very thin"

I think the bass problem is down to the shitty EQ and SQ on the iPod itself. I used to have a nano and the Sennhesier CX300 (the cheap ones) and there was actually way too much bass. The CX550 are very sharp, crystal clear and not artificial at all, same with most high end earphones. Hmm. Well, the Kilpsch Image S4 do have very good bass but their fit is very uncomfortable (the wire over the ear style), but quite a lot of people like them, so don't rule them out yet.

Sennheiser cx 550
You got them in the end? Mine also arrived and they are great.
Parent
Not yet but tested ready to buy, will be getting them when I get the ££ : )

Good choice.

Don't listen to this guy.

True because I don't like in-ear at all, give me some headphones and I'm happy.. But Bose has some decent products so I thought this would be rather good as well...

got this one 2 , very nice !

Sennheiser CX95/Ultimate Ears super.fi 5/Shure SE210
EDIT: I am using Audio-Technica ATH-EW9 (ear clip, dont like in ear style, my ears feel so full then) and they sound amazing!
I was actually going to buy the Ultimate Ears super.fi 5. They do look awesome. However, I've read quite a few bad things about them on head-fi.org. Apparently their price is not justified at all and there are background noise issues (can't remember the technical name for it) especially with the iPods. The Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro are meant to be great but they cost way too much imo. Oh and the CX95 are the same as the CX550, except they have a different design and Sennhesier have discontinued them.

Well I think you are too used to artificial/fake bass which is why some high end earphones aren't for everyone. Again, if I was you buy them from amazon.co.uk because of their return policy and send the losers back. As i said, the Kilpsch Image S4 do have a lot of bass so you might actually prefer them - the only issue for me was the fit and over the ear style otherwise I would have kept them.

Oh, and all Shures have the over the ear wire style which is why I hate them :(

just noticed i had the cx300 back in the day .... they were horrible , i dunno if its due to fakebass or anything but songs sound diffrent on other headphones / soundsystems ... it was like having the ear in a empty bakedbeans can , even the random apple headphones were better ... guess i will rather avoid sennheiser products as all of them no matter what series are bashed down on their shitty bass output ... iam not a bass fan but i dont want to get a wrong impression on some songs , know what i mean :o

That's fair enough, but the CX 550 are part of their higher end models so I wouldn't judge them based on the cheap CX300. If you still aren't convinced get the Klipsch or Jays. If you don't mind the over the ear wire style look into Shure earphones too, but I can't help you there.

i know that CX95 is practically the same as CX550 only in a bit different color, but CX95 are cheaper, at least in my country :)
Back in those days when i was trying to choose the right earphones for me and my mp3 player i have read countless amount of different reviews. I think the overall winner would be Shure company, they have incredibly good reviews on their earphones. But as long as I dont like in ear styled earphones I needed to look for some nice clip-on ones. It was hard task because there are not many of them and in our country are only few decent ones in shops, one from koss and one from razer. I had razer ones and i dont want them again and Koss KSC75 look awfull (my sister has them) and are not that good soundwise. Then i have found in czech is one shop where are selling Audio-Technica clip-ons, a bit pricey but totally worthy, looks awesome, sounds awesome :)

what about sennheiser ie6 ? or the ie series at all
I have shure and will always buy shure, once made the mistake of getting sennheisers but never again
Do you wear them with the wire over the ear? I got a pair of Shure e2cs and whilst they do sound great they are so uncomfortable! I tried wearing them like normal but they fall out every 5 seconds :(

what product do you own exactly :3 ?
