Enschede surroundings (Wzzrd)

Not been yet and so i've only looked at various aerial maps of the center, and obviously will have a few questions.

1) How far is it (walking, in minutes please) away from the city center - and what is there in terms of shops, will i be able to purchase my years supply of stroopwafels from there or not?

2) What's the weather usually been like around this time, what has it been like last lan?

3)Just how expensive is the center, i know redbull is ~2.80Es, how much is everything else?

4) does the Eden have a fridge in the room?

5) are the monitors 4:3 compatible? Or will i have to use 1440*900@75?
Thanks

Not been yet ET so i've only looked at various aerial maps of the center, and obviously will have a few questions.

1) Not really walkable easily, 10 mins on train

2) April has been nice, dunno about march

3) quite expensive

4) yes
oops :D

I blame owzo for mentioning on einen ventrilo.
Parent
YOU DOUCHE WONT TOUCH MA FRIDGE
Parent
2) the weather is crap, so pretty similar to the UK
3) i suppose it is only a bit cheaper than the UK with the currency only a few cents in the favor of the euro
pm me, i live there.

the eden seems pretty expensive/good, so i guess there will be a fridge.

its not that close to the center, as someone above me said you can travel there by train for a low price (from enschede drienerlo to enschede)
maybe you can also take a bus, i dont really know that.

btw i think the wzzrd/eden is closer to hengelo city center than to enschede city center.
According to Google Hengelo is about 30% further (1 hour walk instead of 45 mins), but it's certainly comparable. And the train from Enschede D will get you to either pretty fast.
Parent
yeah but the road from wzzrd to hengelo is 1 straight road so that looks shorther :) + the train from hengelo to drienerlo isnt that long either
Parent
just bring your own boozze for in and outside of the lancafé.. just don't drink it too obvious in the café cause they won't like that ^^
1) As crumbs said, walking it would take a long time. Google says around 45 minutes walk from the centre to the Eden.

2) Very variable - we've had awesome weather in April, but freezing weather with gale-force winds in February.

3) Fairly expensive, about the same as South East UK.

4) I think so, crumbs says yes so I'd believe him.

EDIT: In terms of shops, there is absolutely nothing anywhere near the LAN centre. There is a small cafe underneath Enschede D station, and a few restaurants in the Cinestar complex where WZZRD is based, but aside from that it's miles away from anywhere with any shops. The nearest shop is a petrol station a few minutes drive away, I think (it's on the way to the De Broeierd iirc, so quite convenient for people staying there). The whole area is a business park.
There is a supermarket somewhere in the area, was like a 15 min walk from eden hotel

with our almighty leader eddo its ezbash :P
Parent
im sure if the monitors are widescreen you can just play in windowed mode, right?
Parent
1) too far to walk

2) can be decent, but most likely loads of rain and not that warm

3) think it was like 5 euro for a "big" beer so quite expensive and uhm was like 5,50 for snacks etc they got some offers tho like a sandwich with a coffee

4) yes, its not that big but big enough to fit in enough chocolate desserts
nah it wasnt 5 eu for a bit beer

more like 4
Parent
thought it was like 3,50 for a smaller beer and 5 for a bigger one could be mistaking tho :P
Parent
still wouldnt pay 5euro for a beer, really good beers here cost like 70 cents lol
Parent
Yeah, it's called tax.
Parent
i don't think that beer in shops is that expensive like in lan center, am i right :p?
Parent
in supermarket when you buy a crate its prolly, 0,30-0,50 for 1 bottle 0.30 cl
Parent
not that bad, but i hate 0.30l bottles :p
Parent
price only gets higher when you go to bars :D
Parent
yeah, same here, guess its normal
Parent
good beer

from poland

:')
Parent
ow, i see real expert here

i hope you forgive me
Parent
Well, belgium is the country with the best beer in the world :)
Parent
jesus for 5 euro you are able to buy like 12 decent beers in Poland:D
Parent
Poland? Decent beers?

":D"
Parent
yeah 0.7 for 5 euro I belive, not the best one but decent:)
Parent
terpentyna?
Parent
cuz polaks are poor
Parent
aha, because everything is cheap, we are poor? good logic
Parent
No, many polaks drink 'terpentyna' cuz they dont have enough money for proper alcohol.
+ They need drink to forget their shitty life
Parent
Quite expensive there :{
I spent all my money on the DDR machine and just ate some skittles I brought over.

Just buy beer because it's cheap enough
last april it was warm

prices are ok....

just take enough money for beer
it can still be cold around that time. But with the global warming you never know what the weather will be like.
energy drinks can be bought at every local supermarket for ~30c
We can hug if you get cold.
;)

I was so happy when i heard we would shower together in the Eden to save on getting-ready-time
Parent
you staying in eden too? :|
Parent
1) Not really walkable easily, 10 mins on train

2) March is mostly ok, but make sure you got atleast a jacket with you.

3) quite expensive, but there is a small supermarket on the campus which is alot cheaper and only a 10 min walk from Eden.

4) yes, but it's realy small.
stealing my tekst
Parent
it was crmbs his text tbh :P
Parent
yeah my first line has terrible english :D
Parent
talking about the supermarket!
Parent
What does the super market sell?
Parent
everything
its a fucking supermarket :P
Parent
EVEN TAMPONS?
Parent
Scarzy, vodka and tampons
killermix right there
Parent
almost everything, but just a few brands and not 15 brands of every product like a normal supermarket
Parent
Don't get your hopes up about the city. It rly is one of the worst NL cities I've ever been to. And I'm not just trying to flame with that..

As for the lan center, prices are decent. Not overpriced for Dutch terms.
2) March...well it can be a bitch, but it can turn out nicely. Bring something warm anyways, last year March wasn't that appealing.

3) Expensive. Buy your stuff at the supermarket, unless you get offered a drink :D
1) Better don't walk. Its around 1h from Lan centre to train station.
2) Totally depends. It isn't that warm so better take something extra with you. I dunno that much about that since we were there in December (was damn cold)
3) Depends what.. imo prices are the same as in other bigger eu countries so not that cheap.
4) dunno, send them an email
Don't buy waffles in the airport anyway, they cost mega dollaro!

Find a crappy supermarket, I basically filled a trolley with stroopwaffles and beer the last time I was there!
