accelfix windows7

Does there exist an accelfix for windows 7 ? does the usual accelfix.exe that was used on windows xp also work on windows 7?

Iif I use the accelfix for windows 7 one at home and if I use the usual accelfix.exe at lan, will it give the same result?

grtz

havent tested on win7 but should most likely to work as it only changes some registry values =)

hmm thxs man :) nobody hasn't made a reg file from it yet? or .exe whatever it should be?
Parent
rinput works on windows 7 and on the windows at the lancenter? where can I find it (yeah i'm lazy)?
Parent
do you have to load that .exe file everytime you start up ET.exe? Or is doing it once enough?
Parent
yes you have to.
im using HLSW to connect to servers and it can do it automatically
or you can use .bat file, but it's buggered afaik
if you feel inconvenient - just use the cheese's mousefix i posted first, launch the .reg file containing your display frequency in the name once and it should be okay
Parent
I'll always do it manually then :) thxs for your help!

that's hardcore

Just tried rinput on win7 and mouse didn't move at all in ET ; )

Does that regedit fix actually work in Win7?
Parent
close xfire

yes it does
Parent
Ok, with Xfire off mouse moved, but tests showed that there still was acceleration.

My test protocol was this:
Place mouse on the edge of my mousepad, aim at a lamp in ET. Quickly spin the mouse to the right, slowly bring it back to the edge of the mousepad keeping it on the same level. It never reached the spot I was aiming at before.

Haven't tried the regedit part yet - perhaps I should..
Parent
what mouse do you have?
Parent
Steelseries Ikari laser at 800cpi
Parent
well if you did everything right - it's the mouse causing it since rinput operates on the low level so no OS accel is possible when rinput is injected.
+ ikari is bad, first generation laser mouse, tells a lot ;d
Parent
Well, I can't really see how it could be the mouse because Ikari has only on-mouse drivers (as in nothing is actually done on your computer)...

But well, it could just be my imagination after all.

E: I'll try the regfix and see if it works.

Ok um, my r_displayrefresh is 75 but I don't have any idea whether the game actually runs on that displayrefresh or on my desktop's refresh rate of 60, so should I use the cheesefix for 75hz or 60hz...?
Parent
r_displayrefresh
0 = desktop

it's not the drivers what matter, mostly sensor, some models have shitty ones resulting in acceleration, some have ones which have very low max speed, etc
Parent
Oh..

Well, I tried the cheesefix too, with both 75 and 60 and neither changed the matter.

I suppose it's either the mouse, me, or some unknown factor. Well, the difference isn't that big and I can shoot fine this way so I suppose bitching about it is just useless nitpicking.
Parent
what's the difference btw?
Parent
have you never had problems with rinput?
on xp64 it worked fine, but on win7 x64 it sometimes makes my mouse unusable (delay and choppy movement with v1.31 and with v1.2 it sometimes doesn't move at all)
Parent
if you have windows 7 32 bits, use the same software as you would use for vista 32 bits.
I got the 64bits version
Parent
Then I don't know, apparently it's alot harder with vista/seven 64 bits
Parent
win 7 64 or 32 bit have the same mouse reg as win xp
Parent
no need tor a regfix withn win7.. atleast not here :o
Windows 7 doesn't have accel.
Actually it does.. SOME acceleration at the least, not much if you have Enhanced pointer precision off but it's still there.
Parent
i noticed it at the first time i tested cod4 after win7 installation, removed that precision and didn't feel it anymore. but yes, it might have some but nothing that affects on your gaming, imo.

I read here that the problem is actually not in Windows, but in the games. Older games use some old mouse API that has this problem or something.
Parent
what does it do anyway?
