sandisk external usb vs external harddisk?

so i asked my dad to look up for some ~32GB usb's so i can transfer HD movies through it
however, he came up with links about external hard disks that doesn't require any electric, has usb cables, and has 320GB
that harddisk is the same price as the usb with the 32GB

now i'm wondering, aren't both around the same thing? you can simply plug the EHD, transfer few movies to it, plug it off, plug it in another PC and transfer the movies to there, just like USB? or how does it work?
should i get that? or rather a usb? what are the disadvantages?

same thing. get the harddrive if you dont need move it around much

I got a Toshiba one 160gb for 40 quid. Tbh I use usb sticks for documents and whatever, I could probably get away with a 32mb flash drive. For movies an external hard drive is the obvious choice. I use mine pretty much every day.

i saw a toshiba one 320gb or so
it's mostly transfering some HD movies (8-15GB) for my bro and my dad

no, not unless you can establish a physical connection betweens the pcs
