first of all, it wasnt witchcraft... its alot easier
those people didnt believe in Jesus/God

Things like this have alot simularities with other religions. In that village the religion is just to young or not enough evolved to understand it. For them God is the creator of everything, and if you dont believe in it it can bring harm to the community, so burn!

With other religions im mainly thinking about Islam. No offence to islamics but what they do is the same. You dont belive in our god? Burn!

Now i can go to your main question, its all about perspective. For us its sick and barbarian, because we know better. But if we would grow up and they would say to us all the time God is the creater of everything and we would never have heard of Darwin. Then we would also believe that by doing the right thing god will help us even if that means letting the "non-believers" burn...

Basically im trying to say: They dont know any better

W T F, i just saw like a minute of video and then turned it off, could not watch it, well what can i say, you know what are people like in Africa, they are more like animals, i'm talking about poor countries....

But here in Poland there are a lot of Christians, 95% of people claim to be Christian, but when you see how they behave then you're thinking like 'wtf?!, this is how religious ppl should do?" i know a lot of ppl that go to church every week but in normal life they are really bad people, they lie, they want to backstab you (i believe wiadro is one of them too:D) .. im not saying all people are like that ofc! anyways, you won't change the world unfortunately, there are a lot of bad things and we need to live with them

Having been in Kenya while this happened, I know that there are powerful forces driving this kind of shit. There's no way we can understand how this works. It's about belonging, it's about protecting themselves, it's about fear, but in a way that wouldn't make sense to any individualistic European.

Witchcraft is serious business down there, this also happened while i was there. Missionaries i talked to who had been around for ~17 years said in all seriousness that witchcraft is not to be mess'd around with. I'm not gonna claim it to be "real" or not, but to the rural Kenyans it is very real, trust me. And it's bad, no matter how you twist and turn it it ends up with people being hurt.

And when they talk about christianity - Kenya has dozens of denominations, due to very many very different churches having missionary work there. But it also tends to get mixed up with local witchcraft belief, which can lead to bizzare things like this vid

Not to be harsh, but this is what happened in our country's in the middle ages & even after that. It's a part of their community, we did the fucking same thing. I'm talking about people like copernicus and Bruno (heliocentrism) or about Freud who said people didn't have their own will. Those people were also sentenced or died for it. This is one of the first steps, I hope!, to Kenya evolving to a more western country.

I do NOT say this is human or I like watching this, but it is in some way interesting, because it shows us our history, this is how our ancients were. :)

When again, this clip showed us nothing more than superstition.

Well, in some way this is about the same thing, people like the superstition, because it's easy to live, they don't realise it now, but in a few decades they will be educated.

You shouldn't call people 'scum' because they give their opinion.

Just another example of extreme human behavior... Im not disgusted or appalled by it, Im only wondering why is this so shocking to people. People die every day in more shocking and inhumane ways than this, but noone videotapes those, but when we see footage of people being burned alive for being "witches", we are deeply disturbed and wondering what is wrong with the world.
