nvidia? trust me, you don't want nvidia these days. -.- why? it's 2x expensive than ati,you get 1,5% better performance (remember,it cost twice the price of ati...) also you can't play with it! :D friend bought 260gtx (or what ever it is) and when the cards temperature reaches 75 he gets a blue screen. cool huh?
good thing you didn't overact at all. ^^ i don't want to start again this famous ati vs nvidia subject, just gave him other point of view and i'm gone now.
It's a shame because the technology is very good in newer ATI cards, however with ATI you get things happening like instead of aluminium pipes but copper ones painted silver. If you do get an ATI card though at least make sure it's from sapphire. I got myself a new 3870 and 4870 when they both overheated and broke.
well, I have a 260 and it never even touches 75°C at any time:x
(and actually shuki is right, bringing the temperature argument to support ati isn't exactly reasonable:P)
i have the shittiest brand of 4850 and my temp is around 75 @ gaming, haven't seen the worst case on temp but melting is just nvidia fanboys overacting.
you wanna continue this arguement? then find other forum bcuz i couldn't care less. :D i buy what is cheaper and gives the same performance as the expensive one, end of story.
I much prefered my old ATI card, but it overheated. Just like a lot of them do. Its not something conjured up by nvidia fans. You pay for what you get, and with ATI you get great technology but lacking build quality.
rumors also have it, that ati's most recent card pulls beyond 350 watts:P
(and my 260gt pulls - at peak - about 220 wats and is around 70°C round about:)
why would you happen to say that?
why would the components no be able to pull that much - I highly doubt that 300w is the limit to those - just a guess though, as I said, rumors have(but actually quite reliable rumors)
Friend of mine bought a new PC a couple of days ago
I guess you actually can't get any better performance for that money. Though if you want to spend more, you could easily upgrad to better RAM, an i7 or another motherboard.
Edit: It easily runs Risen or other new games with highest graphics.
I think they aren't in the GTV replay database since it wasn't officially broadcasted by them or so.
Guess you have to be lucky that someone recorded them, otherwise I doubt there are some. :-(
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P
Sapphire RADEON HD 5870
Corsair Dominator - Geheugen - 4 GB ( 2 x 2 GB ) DDR3-12800
AMD Phenom II X4 965 / 3.4 GHz
~770 euro, just add random case, psu, dvd-drive, hdd (I chose for an AMD / ATI solution because I think it's best for your money atm)
You can save 200 euro and go for the ATI HD5770, preformance is comparable to the nv gtx260 but a bit cheaper. DX11 support, but no PhysX like the gtx260 but only a few games support it.

People who only buy intel are just mugs who have seen the blue men on TV and buy the product.
Normal people buy what is the best at the time. Last PC I got was a AMD 3800+ and a ATI 1950 which was the best directx card at the time.
