new graphic card

need to get one, PCI-E and nVidia, I dont like ATi.

price range maybe 300-400 euros?

I want to play GTA IV and do some video editing mostly.

CPU:Q9450 @ 2.6Ghz (QuadCore)
MotherBoard: P5Q Pro
HD: 500GB + 250GB external
Monitor: Gaming: Vision Master Pro 514 20" CRT @120Hz - Other: LG Flatron L1915s = 19" TFT @75hz
Keyboard: Default Compaq
Mouse: Mx518
Mousepad: QPAD CT Large
Sound: Integrated @ P5Q Pro
Graphics: Geforce 7800GT 2x @ SLI
Memory: 4GB some random
O/S: Windows XP
Headset: Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro
Connection: 2mb/756kb
Power: 550w I guess

well if u dont want to play crysis with 100fps on max details u really dont need that expensive car. HD5850 would be some kind of top price I'd give for a card.

hows the ati's softwares nowadays? I remember them being quite shit back in the days of radeon 9600

thats one of the main reasons I want to use nvidia. also because the drivers used to better and at the time i bought 7800gt nvidia was better than ati

If he does a lot of editing he might want to nvidia since they have better performance in that kinda stuff. Also the drivers are better.

I know what you mean about GTA IV, sucks eh with the 512 card and it ignores SLI :(

you could pick up a 4870 2gb X2 for like 300euros, that would be probably perfect for GTA IV and also video editing would be fine - Ive been tempted to do this myself recently.. read good stuff about it but I would read up some more if interested Im not full of knowledge on them ;)

I dont think I want to get another sli because I'd rather get 1x more up to date card for the same price and then maybe later I could buy another one when they get cheap and if I may need one

whats the price difference compared to geforce gtx 295?

The 5000-series will become slightly more efficient when new drivers arrive. Also they consume less energy and are better for non-gaming purpouses than the 4000-series.

i have ati 4830 iceq 4 512mb and it handles all new games without any problems (gta iv also), its my first ati card, had only nvidia cards before but rly it doesnt make any problems. so far i had only 1 problem when dirt 2 didnt want to work, dled new drivers and everything was ok.

e: i jus tmean dont be ati hater, look on the price=performance!

if theyre equal in price and performance then sure, do it. nvidia cards have physX support, and thats what ati misses in games like mirrors edge (game just did work without physx enabled, couldnt see those yellow sheets scratched by a helicopter ;<<< )
