i have all my games copied onto an external from my previous pc which was 32bit winxp (ET, cod2/4, 6000 steam games), i've asked quite a few people and get different answers from most of them really so i want to know if my games will work fine if i just copy paste them across or will i need to re-install since its a different OS?

rainbow > dis shit.

probably not but i have no xp regarding 64bit systems!
I'd say reinstall !
Might have some registry problems but it will work fine. ET will work, don't know about steam since that is important registry files, I guess you used all game hack. So yes it will work. 64Bit and 32Bit problems in Windows are a thing of the past.
didnt use all game hack whatever that is, highlight folder -> ctrl + c -> ctrl + v

all the games worked fine like this before, but that was @ same OS just after a format

You will be fine then :), going to 32Bit and a different version of OS is fine as long as those games run on Windows7. I know ET does, but remember you will need to reinstall PB services and such.

dunno but good luck!!!
It should be possible to copy /Steam/SteamApps from the old HDD after you have installed Steam, just make sure it isn't running while doing so. Hopefully it'll update the games that are available in 64bit versions automatically after that...
