format C

i need to format my pc due to a virus epicly owning it but when i turn the PC on i cant get to the desktop to format it. i can get into the BIOS though at the start

how can i format the PC?

windows xp / vista / 7 installation cd , let it boot from cd device and format c

shouldnt it read the disk and then run that?

edit: as in the CD with windows on :D

If you can't format via DOS or Windows Explorer, then you'll need to get your OS disk, and select "Boot from disk" in your BIOS settings. When you boot your PC, it'll flash up saying "press any key to boot from CD", so just press any key (;D) and then let the disk boot. You'll get an option to reinstall Windows, and format your HDD.

im running a cracked version of XP on the PC and my recovery disks are all for vista. i tried booting from them disks and ofc they didnt work. i dont have the cracked XP on a disk.

Either get a copy of XP from a friend or something, or just install Vista, when you're back up & running, download XP and burn it to disk, then format again.

Lenghtly, but your only choices.

Stupid question perhaps, but how did you install the cracked XP without a CD? I always assumed you need a disk to completely install an OS.

put in the windows cd, reboot, press f8 till you get the boot screen and boot from CD, or go into bios and change the boot options to cd/dvd only, don't forget to put it back to the normal order when it's done installing and also don't do the quick format!

If that doesn't help there's always the magnet trick

Format C is for noobs, and if u don't need any files there then boot installation cd and format else there is a great bootable cd called miniPE.
