Burzum - Belus

Obviously I'm against promoting deep and selfcentering music like this but...

After 16 years of imprisonment for the brutal murder of Mayhem leader Oystein Aarseth aka Euronymous, as well as being linked to a number of church burnings in Norway in the early 1990's, black metal legend and one of the most interesting and influential characters in the metal scene (due to his vital role in the evolution of the most important and substantial genre in metal and one of the most intriguing musical genres in general, as well as being famous for having national socialist political views and allegiance to paganism), Varg Vikernes was released on probation in May 2009.

Being the highly creative musical nature that he is (5 Burzum albums up till "Filosofem" were recorded in 1 year, while he was playing bass for Mayhem), having been inactive for so long hasn't resulted that he would stop recording new material under the name of Burzum, even if he said in the past he is not interested in music anymore. So now, almost a year later since his release from prison, Vikernes recorded a new album titled "Belus".

Many metal fans, myself included, expected it nothing compared to Burzum's masterpieces in the first half of the 90's, which have influenced literally thousands of metal bands to the point of copy-pasting guitar riffs. I am happy to say that it exceeded my expectations and of many other people by far. In fact, Belus is so good, I think it's even better than "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss". I'm not going to discuss the album, other than mentioning the fact that it is black metal in its truest and most perfect form. You have to listen to it yourselves.
