New PC Help Required!

Hello,

I'm looking to purchase a new computer now and as I genuinely have no idea what the best processor, graphics cards etc today are, I would like your help to recommend me some parts etc to have a look at. The budget isn't a problem, as i'm looking to purchase a really good PC now, so could you recommend me some graphics cards/processors to purchase (hopefully the best ones out right now). I'd be very grateful and thanks for for reading as always :)

If there's any website that shows the best computer parts (reviews etc) that would be cool too!

Thanks!

600w brand psu

random case

~500-600€ :D
Thanks for that man, I can spend upto 3/4K if needed but I highly doubt I'll really need to spend that much on a PC. Will check the processor + graphics cards you suggested :)

HD5870
Intel Core i5-750 (you don't really need the i7, the hyperthreading goes to waste)
random socket 1156 board
4-8GB of RAM (speed not hugely important, just make sure the CL is decent)
600+watt high efficiency PSU
Corsair H50 CPU cooler (if you wish to overclock the i5, its a fantastic cooler)
any higher end Antec or Cooler Master case
Intel G2 SSD for boot drive (:D)
+1

and wtf @ the G2 SSD, too legit o.o

but soooooooo worth it, its insanely fast, much faster than the G1 drives and it has TRIM support so it won't die after so many read/writes like older drives too

ye I just saw the Newegg review of it, better numbers than WD ;o I was surprised tbh

Thanks mate, I've just done some research and build this pc on some online website for a rough estimate of just under 2k. Can you tell me what you think?

Intel® Core i7 920
Asus P6T Deluxe (Intel X58 chipset, DDR3 RAM, SLI/Crossfire)
12.0GB Corsair DDR3 1600mhz XMS3 CL9 (6x 2GB)
1TB S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s (Already have a 1TB drive)
6x Blu-Ray ROM S-ATA
2 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 1GB (can change it to the ati HD5870 for a cheaper quote)
Asus Xonar D2X PCI-E 7.1
1000W Coolermaster Real Power Pro Modular
Antec Twelve Hundred
£1,906.13

What do you think?

As I said you don't really need to go all the way for the i7 since pretty much anything a regular user does will not fully utilize the 8 threads. The i5-750 is essentially the same thing with just no hyperthreading. The X58 chipset is fine, just getting the i5 also saves a bit of money (the P55 chipset, which has a drawback with 2 video cards sadly, so take that into consideration, the second card will run a lot slower if you run to cards in the mobo). 12GB of RAM is just ridiculous, though I would suggest CL8, not CL9, it does make a difference. You should still consider getting a SSD as a boot drive, if they'll offer that option (seems you won't build it yourself?) Modern day onboard sound is more than good enough for the average user, theres not really a need for an add-on sound card, 1000W PSU is a tad excessive, if there is a cheaper option that like 700W and still high efficiency thats just fine. The case is a fantastic case, nothing wrong with that. The video cards are alright, just the HD5k series are currently the fastest cards on the market which is why I suggest them.

Edit: what is the site you got that config from? maybe I can take a look at the site for you

Edit: Can I find you on irc or msn?

Quote6x Blu-Ray ROM S-ATA 8

are you weird ? :D
Why the question? I have absolutely no knowledge of computer parts or drives!
Parent
no way ! :O

you wont need 6
Parent
Ah it's come out wrong. I think the "6x" is the speed of the blu ray writer :)
Parent
Well. ;D
I guess you're right. ;) I was mistaken.
