It's true, though the guy ain't "playing" on this, these sounds are programmed before afaik.

It's not fake, it works by turning the tesla coil on and off. If they for instance want to play a tone at 440Hz the tesla coil is turned on and off 440 times in a second; this of course produces a tone of 440Hz since sound is vibration in air.
