im gonna take internet from local cable tv provider (or whatever its called).
he delivers internet [25mb/s] with coaxial cable which goes to the modem and then ethernet or usb. but i want to have internet also on my notebook, so i need a router.
i dont want their shit modem, so...
i want to buy a router where i can connect coax and at least one ethernet cable. it also needs to have WiFi, so i can have inet on my notebook. any ideas what routers are good for that?
thx ppl for the help, ill just go for modem+router standard setup. didnt know that its impossible what i wanted :D

What you do with that ethernet cable is up to you. You can stick it straight into your pc and it will work, or you can hook it up to a router which will act as your network gateway for multiple networked devices (pc, laptop, mediacenter, coffeemachine if you like etc) in your local area network.
So to answer your question, no they shouldn't. They provide internet connectivity, not your local area network.
and yes, like razbo said, it's a very comon set up to have a cable modem and router seperately. I have that too.
Worked fine so far, though it limits my dl/ul to ~7mbit/s.
i dont mind limiting but to 12,5mbit/s so i can have use of my 25mbit connection *_*
yep, will be able to dl 25mb/s.
about the router, i cant see coax input here :/
You need to get the modem from your provider. The output of the modem you plug into your router.
