Installing GFX card

Im trying to install a new GFX card in my PC

My PC:

well, open the case and put the gfx card in the PCIe slot
connect it to the psu if needed

yea i tried that and i turn the PC on and the pc seems to run but the monitor stays black.

then you have to go to the bios and disable your onboard gfx card

Change it to use pci-e from bios? If old card was integrated / used different slot.

Press del when the comp starts, then change it via the gfx-settings via list (pnp/pci settings if I remember correctly).

You should see there onboard, pci and pci-e options. Choose the pci-e and save & boot (F10).

You bought a PCI-E card but no PCI-E slot available? Or is that page a direct upload of your specs?

PCI Three (Three available)

yea i got three PCI slots and then next to it is a black slot where the old GFX card is plugged into. the PCIe slot

try this: turn off pc completly (psu aswell) take out the card, turn the PC back on without a card, wait a few secs then turn it off completely (removing cable or just use the psu switch) then plug it back in, hook it up and turn on the PC.. If that doesn't work do a cmos reset with the card plugged out, then put it back in and turn on the psu etc.. If that doesn't work it might be a bios issue (read about black screens with certain cards) so you might wanna check out some bios updates.. also googling your mainboard + gpu black screen etc should help you see if there might be bios problems for certain cards.. Last but not least check if you PSU is even able to power the card :D

e: also you need to remove all gfx drivers from your system before switching, but that's a no-brainer :p

You sure that isnt a VGA slot? Your computer doesn't look like it's got PCI-E to me :(

wel if i send it back. get a refund and get a new GFX card. what GFX card should i get for around the same sorta price that will WORK in THIS pc.

there is always possibilty that pci-e 2.0 won't work on pci-e x16 and never will start working.
i planted a 2.0 card into my x16 slot also but i tested it in store if it worked before i bought it.

and did it work? so basicly my card just wont work.wel i can just send it back to the shop i got it from and get a new card.

so basicly what card should i get for around the same price which will work in this PC

go to shop and ask that if it might be that and maybe they have the same motherboard there and maybe they can test it with same card or just take ur pc and check it out urself there.
mine luckyly worked but pci-e 2.1 they said is even more unlikely to work. and if it works it's just not doing what it's capable of since 2.0 is a bit faster than x16
