im away for 9 Month to the allmighty Germany bundeswehr aka german army! :)

too bad i cant see couple guys on the upcoming lans :-(

professional army = mercenaries

History has shown that countries with those armies usually fail.

For example Ancient-Rome fell due to the fact that their army was professional army and when Huns attacked they felt no obligation to defend the country and thought that they dont get payed enough to do so.

u can choose between army and social stuff ( hospital, voluntary firefighters ect
so we have this for 2 reasons.. to get people helping in the social organisations and also to have a big amount of people with basic military training for the (nowadays very unrealistic) situation that we get attacked

What about college or university? It's hard to believe the government doesn't let you continue the studies just to go to the army for a few months. It's a kinda long period for an education break...

yeah u can finsh schools and apprenticeship but thats mostly cause u start before ur 18th birthday ( after that they invite u for a check which kind of military job u can do or u can tell them u cant to that cause u dont wont to hurt people or whatever and go for the social stuff)

but university is normaly a no go since it takes to long and starts after u are 18 ( they cant get u for the service after u are 25/26... something like that). most people which wants to study fiish school go for army and then go to the university.

or u can go for THW ( techincal stuff) or voluntary firefighters.. both u have to attend for 6 years but just like 2-3 times a month ( 120 h a year @ THW) so u can study besides that.

If you're going to university for already a year (2 'Semester'), you're free to go to the army after you've finished your higher educations. Otherwise you need to go when they ask you for it.

y but thats usual model of national service. in cze if you dont want, you dont go anywhere. Everybody here just realize that we have no chance to win a war anyway so why even bother? :)

+ we have ultimate weapon called Gipsies! they will steal everything from your army so dont even bother to come :D
