prices uk vs. austria

so i just checked some cars and their prices and i wonder how fucking retarded this is:

subaru impreza wrx sti: austria(25.000€+) - uk(4500€)
peugeot 106 GTi: austria(6000€+) - uk(1200€ - 2000€)
Honda s2000: austria (18.000€+) - uk(6000€)

this is the biggest bullshit i have ever seen. a fucking subaru impreza wrx sti (looks awesome, nicely painted, not many miles etc) for 4500€.. for that amount of money i dont even get a real working and good looking peugeot 106 gti

its like i could drive my dream car in the uk already with the amound of money i have right now and dont need to hope that somewhen in the future i can effort that car. Thanks to shit rules importing the car wont work either (right side steering wheel sucks but i would get used to it for such a nice car :D).

what are the prices for cars in your country? i checked the prices from uk/austria with similiar miles and always with fine conditions (clean, nicely painted and not damaged etc).

rofl.. no comment :S
Parent
naja, mein 728i is noch bis juli abgemeldet ^_^
Parent
is the "clutchpedal" (i hope thats the right word) also on the right side in right side steering cars?
rofl... no it isn't

clutch is on the left/closest to gearstick
Parent
nah i know all the pedals in cars in the whole world are configured in the same way... was just trying to troll but u ruined it :<
Parent
if by "right side" you mean is it on the left? then yes it is

if by right, you mean, on the right hand side, then no. accelerate is on the right. clutch is on the left.
Parent
Was gonna make a funny a joke about You + Clutch but it would be so complicated even I wouldn't get it.

nova und ust. eine steuer auf die steuer.
friend imported a BMW from uk to germany to save costs (dunno remember how much but it was quite substantial). he says he doesn't care about the right sided steering wheel. What needs to be done though is to swicth/adjust the dimmed headlights so they are directed to the correct side of the road.
wow that's silly given that BMW's are made in germany :p
Parent
Yup, but 1 British pound = 1.14827818 Euros :D (back the time he bought it it was even lower)
Parent
ye last time i was in the uk i got 1 pound for each euro :D
Parent
Thought our country was expensive. :D
nothing weird with that, uk has a much bigger second hand market

same as here, prices are way higher than germany or uk
impreza <3
think the subaru is around 20k here dunno for sure :p
They have higher tax + insurance on cars, I think. + RHD sti imprezas will always be cheaper than lhd.
propably higher taxes compared to your country.. but for sure not compared to austria (well atleast i couldnt imagine)

a 200bhp car = 300€ a month for taxes
petrol: 1 L = 1,12 €
Parent
patrol is higher in hungary, whattafakk :-/
Parent
lol rly? well propably because u pay some taxes more but therefor have lower taxes on your cars. i think its like that in italy
Parent
There is not just the price for buying, wouldn't be bad if you also check the averment costs and those things
Ask Panda about UK vs AUS (meaning Australia) ;)
http://subaru.co.uk/vehicles/wrx-sti/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Impreza&utm_term=subaru%20impreza%20wrx%20sti%20-e&gclid=CKrN1uT9n6ECFROElAodU0XJwg

£27,500 x 1.14827818 for euros NEW
if you buy from subaru

duno where u got 4500 euros from lol.

yes the peugeot is £2000 here. NEW

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Drives/Search-Results/First-drives/Honda-S2000-GT-Edition-100-2009-CAR-review-300309/

£29,036 NEW

these are prices from the dealers.

thus meaning UK is alot more expensive than Austria
duno where u got ur figures from for buying the cars
i´m not talking about a new one ofc :)

used cars.. and i checked them on different pages.. people are selling there cars that cheap in the uk. from the pictures and writing they are awesome
Parent
Haha not likely. The UK is heavily overpriced on everything due to tax and imports. Most of the stuff I buy is from oversees and i get it for nearly 1/2 the price.

Recently bought a Blackberry 9700 from the US for £180 including import charges, where as buying it in Britain would cost me £350.
i´m not talking about new cars

and everything car related is like 50% or more cheaper

e.g.

manifold in uk: 120€
manifold in austria: 500€

but ye.. US is like 100times cheaper too.. but buying new stuff from US and shipping them here will end up with the same costs (taxes etc which we have to pay when importing)
Parent
How much would an Audi Quattro 1989 cost in Austria?
Parent
1986 (200bhp) with 225.000km (dunnow how many miles these are) = 22.000 €

@edit: i checked 3 audi quattros 1980-1986
22.000€ - 27.000 €

also: there are serveral celebreties in austria (or well actualyl only one :D) who has alot of cars and loves them.. and he always buys them via the UK cause its 10 times cheaper. i think he even registers the cars in the uk cause taxes are lower.
Parent
I only payed £2000 for mine :D Although, I have had work done to it totalling around £4k in total!

The used car market in the UK is a massive thing so I guess thats why prices are low really.

For sure, brand new are overly priced!
Parent
this is bullshit.. rly.. dunnow if i should hate you for gettin it so cheap or my country. -.-
Parent
Well, it was a spur of the moment thing really! I already had my Corsa and was happy about that but this was too big of a deal to pass upon!

I'm selling it in Sept if your interested :D £3,250 with 118k miles :D
Parent
nah thanks :P importing cars to austria doesnt work well anyway (shit rules)
Parent
It even pays off to buy your car in the UK when you're from Germany and Germany is cheaper than Austria when it comes to cars.

Stupid brits :(
Parent
FUCKING EXPENSIVE IN ROMANIA!
AND YOU GET SHIT CARS TOO!

SORRY FOR BEING ANGRY NERD BUT I WANNA CHANGE MY CAR AND I HAVE TO PAY A LOT FOR A CAR WITH 60.000 km! :(
It's because you only earn $1/h
Parent
Why does it matter what side the steering wheel is on? Can't you change gears with both hands? :-/

I drive different cars all the time (Both sides) and it's not much of a transition. If you're really saving so much money, surely it's a sacrifice for your "dream" car?
the thing is, i wont be able to register an importet car easily.. 700 million shit rules in austria which makes it nearly impossible.

i never shifted with the left hand.. but i imagine it rly shitty :P
Parent
As I said, shifting (For me) is fine. Just takes a few tries to get used too. It's like driving a manual then shifting to an automatic.

Don't know about the taxes.
Parent
It is a great difference if you are using an UK car with a steering wheel on the right side on a road in Poland where the steering wheels are on the left side, mainly because of extremely difficult overtaking.
Parent
I drive all over Europe and the overtaking issue isn't really a massive problem (For me at least).

That's why Jebus invented the hard-shoulder. :DD
Parent
Well my dad, a very good driver (implying to how well and fast he is able to steer the car without killing himself), had massive problems when he had to drive around Poland with his English SAAB in Poland.
Parent
But the car will be mine very soon! My first car, a SAAB 9-5. I will pass the driving exam in some months and than will have to drive with it around Poland. Of course the exam takes place with a car which has the steering wheel on the left side, while my car has the opposite : p
Parent
I have such a girly car. I drive a Toyota Aygo (1.0L Petrol). The work cars are much better but still, cheap and cheerful girly car makes me a sad panda. :(
Parent
: (

Well, my first car won't be brand new. It is from 1999 with a 3.0t V6 engine. And I guess your car is newer, so I hope this will at least cheer you up a bit. ; )

Oh here's a photo of it from the inside: http://i39.tinypic.com/10fdzqq.jpg

I think that looks nice, but I will have to invest some money into the outside which just plain sucks. Well, at least the hubcaps do!
Parent
Mine is a 58 reg (Second half of 2008) so it is fairly new. I should really take a picture, but I can't be arsed. 35 pound roadtax (For the year) and it does about 450miles a tank, which are the main two reasons for my purchase.

Plus the fact insurance is a fucking killer in the UK (Probably the same most places).
