ET:QW Beta Cup Announced

Next month i3D.net will hold the first Enemy Territory OPEN BETA Quake Wars cup. And all the top European clans, teams and communities are invited.

The cup will feature a maximum of 40 clans. The only map will be Sewer and there are 3 rounds per match. The tournament format will initially be poules with the top two clans progressing to the knockout stages. Matches will start in the first week of July, with the finals to be played before the end of August.

Clans are required to have at least 8 players with a legal Quake Wars Open beta key. However the cup format is not yet confirmed. i3d.nl will provide match servers.

Doesn't it say that the mode is not yet confirmed? Maybe you should just show them 8 players to prevent dropouts. Where does it say that it won't be played in 6on6? Or did I misread something?

8v8? The game is more than fine 6v6. I don't see any reason they needed to do 8s.

It looks like the rest of the Quake Wars world is going with 6v6.

Is it just me or does QW seem very, very similar to Battlefield? I know people have been saying this for months, but the gameplay videos and such seem to prove it.

have you played both? I know for one that there is a huge ammount of BF players crying at the ET community forums right now to slow down the game because its way to fast for them.

Have played ET, BF1942 and BF2, and I'm judging QW from (like I said) the gameplay videos. Definately, it's not as good as playing it, but everything seems like BF2 with new content. Guess I'll have to wait till the beta, but I think I'll stick to ET.
