2 cyclops, 1 tormentor, 1 hog and 2 desecrator defense ! <3
can't say i like the fact that there will be 2 seperate versions of the open beta + 1 closed one. why not just play 2 maps or 3 (sewer+1 or 2 more) and release it to every open beta tester. would allow the clans that are infact going to quakecon to practise more on it. since now they will only be able to play vs those they are to face @ qcon
i think that especially the euro clans will suffer from this, as i'm guessing the majority of clans who allready got funds to go there are american and not european ;<
ah well. was hoping that the demo would be out 'til qcon, but i suppose you can forget that then :p
Valley is pretty big as well but with focussed combat it should be quite decent. Besides the last stage of the map is inside a building so should be good for competition.
In a Ark map image overview it seems like the last part takes place inside a large complex as well, hopefully this will be vehicle free.
The rules are so biased against americans again, they dont need to set vehicle restrictions because most americans are battlefield fanboys, and the first round of the tournament is single elimination, making the chance far too large that promising teams will drop at the first round already due to lotto.
closed beta tester :((
</jealous>
Why have they done that? If its Double Elimination how does that work? Winner Bracket Final loser should be guarenteed 3rd.
It's way too early to tell.
its risky hence why id say only 2/3 would go... id say dignitas is one of them seeing as they are praccing all the time and already sent one of their teams to wsvg... but from what ive read they budgeted for it so i guess if they didnt budget for qcon then there wont be dignitas
:P

Qcon Admins:
For future reference, Splash Damage is known as Spam-Damage. When Enemy Territory first came out it was the most spammed game ever created. ET had to undergo several mods (thanks etpro) in order to make the game in a competition state. Enemy territory was the most spammed game for one year until they released battlefield2.
Spam-damage just had to top it. They did the unthinkable. They made a game that has more vehicle spam then battlefield 2.
ET:QW is the future kids and I'm not liking one bit of it. Spam-Damage not only ruined the most successful team based game in rtcw by creating Enemy Territory. Now spam-damage is out to do the unthinkable. They are going to try and ruin the "Quake Series" by putting their vehicle spam all over it:
Let's take a look at the 3 Quakecon maps.
Valley Stage 1: Strogg has 2 Cyclops, 4 Hogs, 2 Tormentors, 2 desecrators and 18 icarous to choose from.
Ark:
<@Wils> ark has two titans
<@Wils> ...discuss
A dev claims ark will have two titans. Well Valley only has 1 titan to fight off 2 tormentors and 2 Cyclops. So I'm guessing 4 tormentors and 4 Cyclops?
Area22: Rumor has Area22 as another vehicle infested map. This map supposes to be outside (just like outskirts). Wonder how many tormentors you can fit on this map?
If your team had been playing battle field 2 and got a special invitation by Spam-Damage to beta test ETQW back in February 2007:
You're guaranteed to finish 1st place in this tournament. Please make sure ID Software has your w2 tax forms filled out before you leave so they can pay you before December. Calculated total payout for being a vehicle spammer since Feb 07' $3,666 (not like you didn't calculate this last night when you looked at the first place prize)
Enjoy this years ET:QW tournament and enjoy it while it lasts!
Those bastards with money always find the way to screw up the party :/
