25.000 € CoD4 Tournament

The Danish esport promoters at Roskilde have made a push to further cement CoD4 as the future of competitive FPS and try and attract teams not only from Europe but as many international teams aswell.

There was no end of hype over the i33 CoD4 tournament about how it was shadowing the CS:S tournament in terms of prize purse however now the Danish LAN event, 'The Experiece', have now created a prize fund over double that of i33. The total prize fund at i33 was an impressive 12,000€ however The Experience CoD4 tournament will see a prize fund of 25,000€!

This mightly LAN will take place in Roskilde, Denmark on July 31 - August 2 and will hose a Call of Duty 4 and FIFA 08 tournamnent. The FIFA 08 tournament will have a prize purse of 3000€. There will also be a Counter-Strike:Source tournament which will be played between July 24th and July 26th but will boast a modest in comparision 12500€ first prize.

Tickets will be on sale on April 21. Ticket price for 5 players and 2 staff members for Call of Duty4 will be 500€.

Parent
Much money imo :-/
Parent
Remember that's split up between 2 Staff and 5 players, so each person is only having to pay 71.40 Euros each for entrance, so it isn't too bad. ;)
Parent
i think all cod4 teams on high level are sponsored for that
its not like et
Parent
I know at least one top 10 cod4 team which doesn't get any lan support from their orga
Parent
dcc-gaming ? or exabyte if you consider them top 10
Parent
both are not top 10 in my oppinion...
Parent
See you there! :)
i might come aswell :P
Parent
The entry fee is pretty high, but then on the other hand the prize money is also high :p
Entrance fee is split up between 7 people. ;)

QuoteTicket price for 5 players and 2 staff members for Call of Duty4 will be 500€.

5+2 = 7

Det jo ren logik :D
Parent
2 staff members... I don't get it tbh.
Parent
manager + other I guess. maybe owner or press?depends how advanced a gaming team is. should be optional I feel- just penalises smaller teams more (they are already penalised for the fact they will probably not win the tourney..)
Parent
5 + 2 cod4 whores. simpleeeee.
Parent
Oh yah, I nearly forgot :D then its not that much : )
Parent
24x500 is 25000 euro and prizefund is 25.000...
actually it is 12000 :)
Parent
wow youre right! i love math!
Parent
haha, nice one :)
Parent
impressive.
evry one can do such a pricefund by taking 70€ from each visitor.
i might go there! vacationtime >_<
Very nice ;)
QuoteThe Danish esport promoters at Roskilde have make a push to further cement CoD4 as the future of competative FPS and try and attract teams not only from Europe but as many international teams aswell.

competitive pls!
come on you can do better then that, look closer
Parent
have make a push to further cement
Parent
haha, what a shame i did not see that one :D

btw. got another one: "aswell" - it's "as well" ofc ^^
Parent
i noticed it the first time i read it lol, pretty annoying :P
Parent
That's a LOT of money as entry fee, lol.
I believe it is worth mentioning the B-tournament, which is half price (250€) entrance fee for 5 players and 2 staff, and gives access to the A-tournament for the 4 best teams.
Parent
wow, nice setup :D great chance for upcoming teams, they should do that everywhere!
Parent
Look at what you get in return aswell. This is non-BYOC with a well filled prize purse.

An average BYOC LAN might cost you €30-40 in the Benelux, and for that you get a shitty table, a chair that breaks your back and if you're lucky they have around €500 and a couple of 5Hv2 headsets as prizes.
Parent
I know that. I just find it a LOT of money. I'm a little cheap on this area :P
Parent
Imo the entry fee, although it will help towards the prize purse is simply a barrier to entry. It filters out the casual teams from the competative ones.

But the barrier to entry isnt even that deer....

71.40 odd euros each. That is cheaper than the iseries...

It really isn't that much to pay to have a chance at 25,000euros
Exactly and that is why we have both an A-tournament (500 €) and a B-tournament (250 €)
Parent
isn't spectating free at the I-Series?
Parent
I wouldn't know, but I can tell you that spectating at the-eXperience is free =)
Parent
No it's not.
Parent
£10 a day, or £25 for weekend.
Parent
izi money 4 me :D hihih^^
We also have a B-tournament with an entrance fee of 250€ for 5 players and 2 staff, which gives access to the A-tournament for the 4 best teams =)
whats about video coverage ?
We are still negotiating positively =)
Parent
250/7 = 35......5 ish

best part of 36 Euros each.
Parent
wondering how many teams can pay 500€ and where they'll get it from ..
i gonna win! i only have to buy the game b4 tournament!
