Gone the way of dinosaurs, dodos and all things vicious and evil, a gaming dynasty today closed its door. In their four years Vicious and Evil became known as a respected, competent and competitive team with a relatively active community site constantly generating content and interest which we’re sad to see go.
Posted on their site, viciousandevil.com, manager Swine gave his thanks to squads past and present and announced that the motivation had drained and ultimately attentions were elsewhere. Vicious and Evil have now released all their squads, including ET, CoD, CSS and Quake, who are currently looking for a new home.
I caught up with vae Swine for a brief interview on the departure, what’s next and what happened.
What was your aim with vae?
[…] We tried to climb higher and higher with VAE, but I think we never achieved that. We didn’t have the experience in the games and promotion to turn out as a really good clan. Still we had a great time for over four years, saw people come and go at VAE and had a lot of fun with them.
What’s your most enjoyable memory whilst being involved with vae?
The most enjoyable moments were every LAN, where I met the other VAE guys - like Crossfire LANs or shgOpen and stuff.
Why now, why are vae to shut down?
I think the last Crossfire Challenge broke our back. We already knew prior to the event that the ET team is not going to stick together after the LAN because twidi, squall and lettu had to go to the army (lettu skipped it somehow now :D). But then CoD, who were doing pretty well for a VAE Team, split up aswell. So I spent some time thinking about the future of VAE, cause most of us had other projects running aswell. It's a pretty hard decision, especially for the active and reliable teams in VAE, like the Duellers or the CS: Source Squad, but I eventually came to the decision that I don't have the time and motivation to start everything from the beginning again.
Where to next?
I will follow panni, who left the project before and made a great job till now, and focus on my work as a journalist at www.fragster.de whilst deffan will be busy with www.callofduty.se
As I said the CoD and ET Teams split up, for the fanbois: chmpp has a new Team, support him and I bet Iron will make something big aswell! The other Teams will stay active. I'm in contact with another MultiGaming Clan, who could give the CS: Source Squad a chance and then i will try to find a new home for reload, where he can kick asses in Warsow and Quake again.
