linkje didn't had a good start in the tournament. He had to face the serious Gaming player Cypher in the beginning and lost on two maps. In the interview with fragster.de right after the match he tried to explain the loss and talked about his goals for the year 2010.

linkje managed to pick up his last game, which made the event for the Frenchman not a complete disappointment.

The Intel Extreme Masters for Quake Live European Championship Finals have kicked off with today's first matches featuring the likes of Russia

Cooller,

av3k and

Spart1e! The top two of each group will advanced to the playoffs by playing best of three matches throughout the day.

Normally we'd be seeing Iceland

qrebo competing, but he couldn't afford the trip, so Sweden

Z4muZ - who placed second at Dreamhack - gets a second chance.

The most unexpected results came from the ex-YYT Quaker Germany

calipt who simply turned the whole A group upside-down. After a rather poor performance in his first match against Sweden

Spart1e, the German claimed to have his aim "on" in his second match against Poland

av3k, who played a rather disappointing game. Sweden

Spart1e would have never thought that exactly the same guy he raged in his first match would be the one kicking him out of the tournament, especially after openly stating he'd reach top 4 comfortably.
In group B the turnout was more expectable, but not less enjoyable. Especially the Russia

Cooller vs. France

strenx game was entertaining, not least because of the Cooller interview post-match where he teached strenx a thing or two about how the game should be played. Not his trouble!
