AEF Teams and Maps

With 45 days to go until the Antwerp eSports Festival in Antwerp, Belgium, we now have the complete list of teams that will attend this event. The total number of teams now stands at 24, but this number could still increase if the interest is there and enough slots are available. The official maplist is also near completion with 5 maps already fixed, and one map which can be added if the participating teams would want so.

The 5 maps for AEF are:

Supply, sw_goldrush_te, radar, frostbite and adlernest

As been mentioned, one more map might be added (but this does not mean it will), based on popular demand.

It's also possible that within the next week(s) 8 more slots will be added to the tournament. That means 8 more teams might be able to attend. But that's only if there is enough interest left from the community. If your team is still wishing to go to AEF, please send me a pm with title "Interested for AEF". Remember to add your teamname and full lineup.
You can also still subscribe for the AEF newsletter & updates via mail, by sending a mail to krosan at gmail dot com with subject "Notify me for AEF".

I think the map list is very weird :s how can you prefer frostbite and adlernest both over bremen..

Just a guess, but fast maps = shorter games = less chance of delays?

that's the positive side of the story it seems you are ignoring the negative aspect.. shorter games brings more "luck" into the maps..

on bremen there are different longer stages than on adlernest and frostbite, so in the end the best team will win the map

atleast frostbite/adler have been played enough now that they aren't completely lucky these days, adler is pretty much a 3 stage map if you know when to surrender docs, transmitter can be held pretty strongly

would prefer supply/gr/radar/bremen/adler tho

Adler is worse than frost in 5v5, tbh, from that respect. It's a similar design, but has even more of a luck-based element and less tactical options, imo.

(Some) players don't like frostbite. Everyone else does - admins, coverage, spectators all love it - look at the defining moment of CC7, for example. On frostbite. Players get 4 of 'their' maps, shouldn't they let everyone else have one? LANs aren't just for the players, you know.

The majority of the players isnt in favour of frost (as far as i know), what makes you think spectators (which are all players) would like it? And LANs are there for the players imo.. admins organize it FOR the players and coverage is there FOR the spectators (which are ET players), which comes down to all should be in favour of the players (duh)

I think you should leave the map choice entirely on the player's side yes, the people that play these maps know what's right and what's wrong.. so it's best for the tourney if the admins let the players make these kind of decisions. You get the best games with the best maps and that's the goal you're going for I presume?

Don't get me wrong, i dont want to be a hardass.. but this dissusion has been going on so long with these maplist decisions while there's no reason to imo. It's just frustrating for the players since it's obvious what they want and whats best for the game but noone listens to them :P

The thing is that the players only think about themselves. The admins have an entirely different point of view which as also important. Maps need to be quick for a LAN, and they need to be spectacular and fun to watch. AEF is about getting ET out there, catching the eye of the world. With boring maps and expected matches (what will happen without the luck factor you so fear) the crowd won't have a reason to watch what's going on. There's a lot more at stake than just the fair winner. I completely understand that as a player you don't give a shit about this, and that's why I'm making the decision for you.
