As the match deadline approaches I talked to both Rage's Kamz and Stronger Than Hate's Frozz about their expectations and their assessment of their teams' performance so far.
Kamz, you finished second in your group, after losing to e-WAVE, when looking back at the past three weeks, are you satisfied with the team's performance?
We're kind of disappointed. I think we were favorites to top the group and we didn't manage to do that. But that said, e-WAVE deserved to finish first because they played better than us when we played against them so can't really complain there.
Why do you think you lost? Is there any particular reason?
I think they were just better that day. Not to make any excuses, but we rarely practice these days and I think that was a big factor. I watched a replay of that match and I think karnaj was a big part of that win because of his sneaky actions.
And now, progressing to the playoffs, and certainly facing tougher opponents, have you been practicing more?
Hardly; we practiced on Thursday and that was about it. I think we need to if we want to beat a team like stronger than hate.
Do you think you'll be able to beat Stronger Than Hate?
It's going to be a tough match for us. They have a core lineup in the form of Cortana and they have damage dealers in the shape of nuggan and miNd, and I think that's what makes them really good. If we can play at our best, then we will be stronger than hate.
How do you think Rage will do this EuroCup?
We can go really far. Our goal is to reach bronze at least, but this is going to be a difficult one to achieve with teams like Impact and Dignitas in there. It just depends whether we can beat teams on the day. Only time will tell.
So Frozz, Stronger Than Hate are certainly one of the biggest EuroCup surprises this season, and last week you topped your group. How does it feel, and did you actually expect this to happen?
I can't say that I expected to get to the playoffs, but at the start of the group stage we thought we stood a chance. Unfortunately, we lost to Aero and we didn't think we'd make it back then. But a good performance against ECW and WinFakt placed us first and we are happy to be here.
Tonight you'll be facing Rage; how do you think Stronger Than Hate will do?
It will be a close match which will most likely go into a decider. Some people might consider us as the favorite in this match but I think there is no favorite tonight. Individual skill and the atmosphere tonight will also play a big part in the game. I hope we will win.
How do you think the team will do this EuroCup?
I think we should be able to beat Rage. If we do so, epsilon should be our next opponent where we'll give our best and try to surprise them, but overall, entering the playoffs is already a good achievement, anything beyond that is just a bonus.
Tune in at 21:30CET tonight to witness an undoubtedly equal and intense match via GamesTV.
