image: 2cz3ghgTIME Magazine has begun publishing its 'Top 10 Everything of 2011' and of most interest to you, the readers of Crossfire, will be the 'Top 10 Video Games of 2011.' TIME has a habit of producing content for the mass public so it may surprise you that their games list is surprisingly well formed. It was written by Lev Grossman, who attended PAX this year and guest spoke on the topic of writing in video game media.

Time's Top 10 Video Games of 2011

You can find the list in full over at the TIME Magazine website, here, starting from #10. They give a brief description of their choices, justifying each games' selection in this prestigious list.

Unfortunately, Enemy Territory did not make this years list. Maybe in 2012? Another notable omission is that of Modern Warfare 3, which despite smashing all sales records has failed to gain the praise of the gaming critics or hardcore gamers. By ignoring such a huge title, it allowed Grossman to include some of the better scripted and more unique games of 2011, including indie titles Bastion and Sword & Sworcery.

i think i got 24h gameplay out of it, at which point i got bored ... Even putting everything to hardest never made the game feel like a challenge, but that's just my two cents.... Waiting for a wanderer or hardcore mod, before I pick up the game again :)

I racked in 100 hours myself, which is probably more than the other single player games on that list combined would have enticed me for.

MW3 is the lowest common denominator amongst games aka any 13 year old can buy it and be 'good' at it from day 1

Skyward Sword is justified and imo, best game of the last few years.

Minecraft? Is he serious here, I wouldn't call it "a game" myself.

Arkham City was overhyped, but well justified.

Saints Row 3 I think is brilliant, hasn't done too well in the award scene :(

gotta say, although i haven't played skyrim, literally every gamer i know on the internet and in RL says that skyrim is possibly the best game ever made. Highlly doubt portall 2 is better than skyrim...

Minecraft is a top game, its the craze now, no more runescape ;)
saints row 3 is just beaty!! + so is skyrim im glad mw3 aint on there
