It did in some aspects (Like English as RazZaH said), but a better person in general ? No.
In my eyes learning a second language makes you a better person!

Hidden the votes, are people too shy to comment? o0
Parent
Because I got the first one!
Parent
Aha, it's like walking into a gym changing room, seeing all the toned hot steamy naked bodies & darting into the nearest cubicle ashamed, embarrassed and self conscious - yet strangely aroused. It’s understandable.
Parent
Show votes:D
Parent
Going by my experience, English people have the least bit of knowledge in second languages.
Parent
Tightly followed by the frenchmen and the germans.
Parent
Better? Hahaha. Actually, comments in here can't make anyone better, I think everyone knows why, and since crossfire is in 99% about comments - nope ofc.
xfire is full of flamers, so i dont think u get much "yes" votes
The ones who vote 'yes' have nolife, I guess. Or at least I can't get it why some gaming community site would make some ppl better person :xd maybe they feel they are better here, in the interders or something. Thats why they think xfire has made them better person in general x-D
Parent
It's like Godwins law, just by discovering and continuing to read Crossfire you're a nerd... so that be redundant .o/
Parent
You just totally owned me!
Parent
there are good and bad sides at crossfire

if there wernt any good sides you wouldnt be here
Parent
idd, still the this site doesnt make me better person in general. :(
Parent
it doesnt make me a better person ² ^^

iit just improved my englishskills :P
Parent
I can agree on that, but the poll goes like....

QuoteHas Crossfire made you a better person?
Parent
dont know why he asked this question and not if my englishskills improved

cuz that was the question in my journal tbh
Parent
from which movie is that?
Parent
r-kelly's trapped in the closet music thingy
Parent
Well, not better person in general as ati said :-p
Definately no, This haven't even help my english skills, since I use english pretty much in general anyway
What is this 'Crossfire'?
So reading useless comments, 90% of which are just some useless memes which don't even make sense, actually improved his english. I think he started very low.
I've never flamed before. and never used lol.
Oh yeah, me too, but it's kinda... 'worse'? Anyway, not 'better' .
Parent
It has created an ego.
more no then yes:D
Kiewan improved his sight!
Parent
lol no gtfo
Yes in some ways, no in others. Exposure to people from different cultures is always valuable; I probably know a lot more random stuff about various areas of Europe than I would without crossfire. It's also been a good place to practice debating, at times, and writing news and columns. However, it certainly has negative elements too.

The big thing that swings it for me personally (taking the question generally) is that Crossfire has given me a HUGE amount of project management experience running LANs, which probably helped me get my job and certainly made me more confident.
what job did you get :) ?
Parent
Graduate Engineer at Doosan Babcock Energy - designing, constructing and comissioning coal-fired power stations and related emmissions-reduction technology.

Right now I'm doing computational fluid dynamics modelling of the secondary air duct system feeding into the burner windboxes in order to assess the effectiveness of the aerofoils we use to measure air flowrate.
Parent
wat

Kinda impressive ;p
Parent
pretty sweet indeed
Parent
Indeed - we're in the process of expanding our burner test rig in Glasgow to include a pilot CCS system.
Parent
it just made me write 'u' instead of 'you' and so on when im not concentrated while writing :Dd
Yes. My english isnt that good, but still better
yes, it helped me to improve my english skills since i am forced to use it every single day (just like vent / talking english, i guess this helped even more).
but then again... a "better person" like in the headline of the poll? nowai...
(just like ati_ said)
Definitely no.
ETNation on the other hand \o/
Parent
not true. there was the whole gn cup with vowel, i swear to god i laughed so hard so much that it must of had some good effect. then there was the whole forum thread with potsmoker and lame admining, that was good for a laugh to. theres nothing to laugh about on crossfire thats why gn is so much better than crossfire.
Parent
ETnation has made me impotent. :(
Parent
my english still sucks, but my major problem is not to write english sentences in "cf way".

u know wut i mien?
No, I start hating people more since the traumatic month October 07
Crossfire ignited the flame in me
I've avoided deterioration of my English by never writing using stuff like 'u' &c. (What used to be called txt-speak or AIM-speak, but is now more widely used).

EDIT: Also, I've learned to have far more patience and tolerance of ignorant retards.
Same here.
Parent
QuoteEDIT: Also, I've learned to have far more patience and tolerance of ignorant retards.

well that is something.. ;D
Parent
I improved my flaming skills. Surely this is enough to qualify as a "better person"?
Ofcourse, now I know everything about polish people!
Actually, the majority of Polish people that I know in real life are actually very honest and generous people. Crossfire has fortunately not destroyed my respect for them simply because some citizens of their nation may not be so honest/clean.
Parent
Well mate, your sarcasm detector is broken 8D
Parent
Am I correct in assuming that your comment means that you have learned that Polish ppl are cheaters? Because if not, your sarcasm is extremely well hidden
Parent
If you read the question perfectly, then you can see it's nothing to do with the online-gaming or smth. Atleast I got it like this.
Case closed.
Parent
Related to my english, yes.
Well, let's say it has made me feel better about myself. In other words, it's fueling my superiority complex.
superiority complex sounds complex :P

ITS SIMPLE, I'M THE BEST :D
Parent
Yep my english ownz since i read crossfire :]
Only to learn new skills of sarcasm and e-flame.
I've been sober for 14 months now. Havent seen jail time for 2 years. The voices arent there as often as before and I havent felt the "need" to kick in someones face for a while.
Everyone's still out to get you though. I'd be careful if I were you.
Parent
lol my first poll

+ ye it has rly made me a better english speaker
....person ? ..dnno

for example on teamspeak or ventrilo ive heard a lot of different accents....could learn some differnt cultures and so on.....

blabla
That gives it not, because with me is not good cherry eating!!
Truth be told, it still is your own input that makes you better at English. Going trough Crossfire shows me how bad people are at English. I don't see how reading loads of crappy English would improve mine. Not that my own English is that good, nor do I apply it as I should in most replies, but then again, I could care less.

Voted 'no' in case you didn't already understand.
fukc you, is this shitt good english motherfujkcers
Parent
crossfire improved my english skills:D
but actually im still the whiner
since visiting crossfire, my english has become worse :(
its kinda improved my laungages but im not really sure if it has or not
cf helped me to improve my english, but thats about it...
yes, ofcourse
helped me with english alot but didnt make me a better person
you are so nice hard to make you any better <3
Parent
cant argue with somebody who tells the truth
Parent
first I had a live
then I crossfire'd
ask humm3l
i wrote about crossfire lans in my university personal statement!
which mark sheeeeeep?
Parent
rofl nellie is getting desperate for polls
Nah, purpose is to generate comments 'n debate. Find one I've done that hasn't at least 100 comments :O)
Parent
I know just giving ya shit :P Polls are a pain, I can never come up with any.
Parent
if you would make a poll that is even more crap than the ones that you've made so far you would get even more comments..
retarded people love crap so they will automatically respond to it.. so getting 100+ comments isn't THAT hard in this community..
Parent
Suggest a better one... why remain on a site full of "retards"?
Parent
In some senses yes, in some senses no.

The most negative thing we "learn" from crossfire is prejudice.
I see words like "nigger", "jew", "polak" used in a negative context way too often here. And no matter how much I despise seeing it, the constant exposure to it makes me just don't care about it anymore. In that sense it has made me a worse person.
nice not mentioning turks and muslims

racist bastard
Parent
what is this "crossfire" ??????
crossfire especially didn't, but sheep taught me some United Kingdom ! better person? not rly
sheep is illiterate :-)... but god damn is he sexy(no homo).
Parent
ahhhhahah^^ yes i learned to spam here :D
and i met a lot of ppl who gave me a lot of useful infos..
my english improved a bit :D
I know which nationalities aren't nice, now I won't visit belgium or france easily
crossfire? I doubt anything huge or significant-

gaming as a whole, probably :)
stupid poll
gave me something to waste my summer over and learn to ignore PMs
o.O wtf is this shit !
Well, without, I'd proberly be nolifing in some mmorpg, so Crossfire is somewhat usefull for me yes
razzah what have u done...

thought it was impossible
Parent

Parent

Parent

Parent
joar irgendwann werd ich wohl auch da sein :>
Parent
I guess it would have helped me at school if I we still had english at school
I think Crossfire hasn't done me much good really. If anything it has made me even more cynical than I was before - the world really is full of retards.

On the other hand it has left me with this wonderful sense of superiority which I carry with me in my everyday life and it has given me the mantra I use every time life is pushing me down: "At least I'm way better than the Crossfire users".
it ruined my life
Sure, a intrawebz-page made me a better person. The amount of retards in this community is bigger than the amount of nice guys.
It actually helped me get my present job, otherwise absolutely not..
It's the other way around for me actually :P
hm rather no than yes.
I mean you learn something from every situation, whatever you are doing... but most content on crossfire is just random spam, doesnt really make you a better person. :p
I improved my german by listening to starcraft stream. cybernetics core, zerglings, marines, overlords, high templars - words I could unterstand.
bein on comms with uk-heads will probably teach you the most
You Sir, must be kidding me.
Parent
Yes it has because I can now cheer in German.
can anybody tell me what is this 'Crossfire' :o?
geekish :c
I think it even had a negative impact on my written English :P
And now that I mostly quit crossfire and ET I realize that there actually ARE people at my age outside the door.
yep helped me much! Understand now the sentences much faster! Reading english is no problem anymore, not so stressful like before. But writting in english is still very bad, thats why i dont post so much, doesnt makes fun :/
No

But I know everything about Polaks now... And I'm scaried to go outdoors...

:>
whats this crossfire?
what 'bout that funny razzah bust btw ? :P
go make a topic
Parent
sry my care about obvious kids is not that big ;)

Parent
Oh, thanks..
Couldn't believe my eyes when i saw that thread :S
Parent
didnt see the topic ^^

were there many haters ? :P

how were the comments xDDD
Parent
my was offensive O:-)

hope he was rly wrong :P
Parent
I were one of the first, so i didn't see them all.. I think i just posted "wtf :o" or something
Parent
Maybe there are people who stopped take drugs because of Crossfire
The internet made me worse to start with, and Crossfire was definitely a part of that. But, once I learned how things were done it got better. I really don't want to imagine what it would be like for someone coming into a gaming community when they're only a young teenager so I'm glad I only started using the internet later on - comparatively.
What are you doing these days, I dont see you on SK anymore?
Parent
Nothing eSports wise. Parted from SK, and been on a sabbatical ever since.
Parent
If talking with words such as lol, rofl, lmao, wtf, wth, makes you better, then yes it has helped.
yes it has changed me .. im a pohhuist now.
the only thing crossfire taught me:

there's too many idiots on the internet
so true..
Parent
yes, i come here to learn english grammaer
its made me worse!
yes a better person:
- improved my english skills
- got answers to a lot of my questions, so i have more knowledge
- without cf i would have never found out about icanhascheezburger.com!
nope, im still fucking cunt
it improved my flaming skills.
my english got worse though. mainly because there are no persistent grammar rules on crossfire. playing with anim was a bad thing too, his english is so bad, damn those canadians.

fuckin sunroofs.
my sarcastic sense of humor has increased -_-
Crossfire only helps the mental retards on this ridiculous site to become even more retarded..
One of us... one of us... one of us
Parent
yes it has really helped my life.

now i know the difference between good & bad. Crossfire have given me a new life courage, i do know longer fear death or pain.

xd
