It's not about not wanting accept games other than ET, it's about all other games being bad and made and marketed for casual crowds, and now even worse, for console casual crowds, with lame gimmicks, not gameplay as main concern for developers.

I have 0 expectations for BRINK, but if miracle happens, and it turns out to be a good game, I will play it. I don't hate games purely on presumptions, however so far I've seen 0 reasons why should I (and competitive community) even bother with it.

A game being bad is down to opinion. All gaming communities will be the same. Somebody says it's bad, that person's friend says it's bad, their friend says it's bad and so on. Just a bunch of sheep following each other into the shit-filled pit of the inability to adapt to change.

People have made their own minds up about Quakewars. As fuzz said, there is a difference between trying new games and not liking them/not being as good (albeit this is based on opinions - In this case most here subscribing to that of a competitive gaming community) as the game we currently play. What would you have people do, play the game anyway? Spend £40 on it because the developers gave it ago?

If there's a demo/beta, that lets me try the game (and see for myself how the hitreg and such is) then I might get it. Otherwise, I'll only get it if it has a very positive response from the people I know.

"Everyone does it" is the lamest explanation ever. It could be everyone doing it, it still is wrong and forbidden.

My point is: keep up with piracy (I do it myself most of the time), but DON'T try to rationalise it. It is driven by unwillingness to pay the author what should be paid. It is wrong and forbidden by the law. Just like drinking in a public place or any other law. Simply, for now, there is no effective way of enforcing this law without harassing some human rights.

Looking forward too it yes but it's still a good few months away from being released. I hope I can get into some kind of beta and actually trying it out before deciding if it's worth purchasing.

Brink is a console game, fuck all the people whining about the PC competitive shit.

I will be buying it, as it does look like it has potential and to be honest it isn't that expensive - they have also put effort into the scene so Im happy to reward that personally.

one thing I have noticed is that they have not shown ANY videos of the animations of SMART system from 3rd person, I have a feeling this is either not finished or the part of the game that needs work / looks crap - only thing Im really waiting to see ;)

I'd be happy with the next quake wars.. compared to the next Wolfenstein.

Think I'll at least try it. Concidering the fact that I played CoD4 for a while and enjoyed that, and also obviously love ET - a mix of those two COULD be good, but I doubt it'll ever be better than ET.
